My wife and I recently cruised on the Carnival Legend (Mar 13 through 20, 2011). While we enjoyed the cruise, we were dismayed to find that in addition to the Early and Late dining, there was an added option called Your Time . We think that Your Time is a terrible idea for the Carnival Legend or any other Carnival cruise ship. Having the option what should i pack for my caribbean cruise of dining any time between 5:45 and 9:30 pm ( Your Time ) reserves a number of tables which were used in past (we cruised on the Legend in 2008) for either early or late dining. These tables are no longer available for early or late dining. A bad idea. If we wanted to Freestyle cruise, we would have used a different cruise line than Carnival. After conversing with other passengers, we found that many shared our dislike for the Your Time dining option. Please return to just the early and late options on the Carnival ships. Thanks.

I m with you. I understand that due to excursion times it may run into the dining hours, but we tried YTD and found it most unsatisfactory. First, you get a different set of waiters each night, as well as a different table, and (we found) most were for tables for 2. While that might be nice for some, we prefer the meeting what should i pack for my caribbean cruise of other folks from various areas, and the satisfaction of meeting a wait staff that prides itself on remembering your preferences after only the first night. We also did the Legend in 2008, and we ve decided that if we return late, then it s Lido Deck Buffet.... oh well. ( no need to disturb the rest of the table)

You brought up some points what should i pack for my caribbean cruise that we did not think of. Wwe also like big tables, meeting new folks, and keeping the same set of waiters. Thanks for the imput......we have scheduled our next cruise for Feb 2012 on the Miracle (here s hoping the Economy does not tank between now and then or gas does not go much higher).

We do YTD and love it. So do all of our family members. We also had the same waiters every night, what should i pack for my caribbean cruise when we found ones who were great, we asked for their section each night. I like being able to show up when I want and not be locked into eating at a certain time every night or be stuck with waiters I may not like every night...for that matter, I don t want to be stuck with the same table mates every night, if I should get ones I don t care for, which does happen, unfortunately. what should i pack for my caribbean cruise It s my vacation and I can choose who I want to sit with. When I sit with others at YTD, I can enjoy their company and possibly arrange to meet them again another night... or not....sometimes DH and I like the romance of dining alone...

I respect your right to your opinion. what should i pack for my caribbean cruise My concern centers around what should i pack for my caribbean cruise the number of tables which are no longer available to early dining. While I have planned ahead this time and made my next years tour reservations, I may not be able to in the future and the early dining will be full. I suffer from Acid Reflux and early dining is necessary for me. On last weeks cruise I spoke to a number of diners what should i pack for my caribbean cruise who were assured by their travel agent that they had early dining, they did not. Perhaps this occurred due to the YTD? As for Carnival changing what should i pack for my caribbean cruise back due to my input, I have no delusions about that occurring. My only real hope is that the entire dining room does not become YTD .

Perhaps dealing with a TA is the issue - for my cruise in May for instance, both the Early and Late Dining is still avail with YTD wait listed. Or perhaps they didn t book their cruise early enough. Also, there are more Platinum cruisers than ever before - they also get first choice as to which dining they want. On the Legend, there was only one side of the upstairs that was for YTD . The other side and all of downstairs was for set dining.
I will mention that John Heald did recently say that YTD is growing in popularity and they are looking at adding tables - I know that won t make you happy and I am sorry about that...but YTD you can still get the same waiters, you can eat as early as you like - we ate anywhere between 6:15 and 7 most nights, and you can sit with large groups if you wish...

what should i pack for my caribbean cruise I too am one who prefers YTD mostly because of traveling with the kids and pehaps this will change after we kick the kids out of the nest. On the last trip on the Spirit, the YTD tables were less than half of the upstairs dining room with the entire lower level and majority of the upstairs reserved for the set times.
The big draw for us as said is that when traveling with kids AND the timing of excursions it many times becomes difficult what should i pack for my caribbean cruise to be locked into one set time. Like other posters have said, when we are assigned a partucularly good wait team, we ask for them again each timeback to the MDR. A couple of times we have had to wait about 15 mins to get the requested wait team but it was well worth it in the end. When the kids were having dinner with the Camp Carnival group, wife and I were asked if we wanted a table for two or would like to share a 4-top with another couple. We always choose to share and exchange cruise what should i pack for my caribbean cruise stories etc.
BK (before kids) have cruised on other lines that do not offer a YTD option. Most of the cruises were great meeting a new people from different regions of the states but on one cruise we had been assigned a table with one couple that the husband was loud, obnoxious, very opinionated etc. While I don t let things affect my cruise generally, what should i pack for my caribbean cruise we have never eaten our meals more quickly and skipped deserts more frequently than on that particular trip. We did make good friends with another couple at our table that we found were doing the same thing acouple days into the trip.
