More like staying at a nice hotel that moves around to great destinations. My kids love it and we always have a great time. Only negative is that the food is so good I have to work out afterwards. Further, if your state runs things the way California does - and most do - the school will lose money for every day your children are not there. And what message are you sending your children - that school isn't important. When they are in trouble academically in the later years and blow off the importance of school, will you make excuses for them?
I have three children aged 17, 14 and 6. I have seen children pulled out of school for all sorts of things that could have been scheduled during the summer and watched first hand, as a parent working in the classroom, how hard it is for them when they come back and everyone else has learned a new concept that they did not. i have been on 2 carnival crusies advantage rent cars in the last 2 years the first one we had 8 people this year in april we took 32 people along ranging in age from 2 to the mid 50's everyone had a GREAT time we are all planning on going again in 2 years. the food is fantastic the pools and slides were fun mini golf and the casino were lots of fun too. we went on our first cruise 29 years ago on another cruise line and i can tell you carnival advantage rent cars is much better your every wish is fullfilled.everyone said this was the best vacation they have had ! Carnival is OK IF u don'tmind a gang of UnWatched littlr brats running all over the placE1 I took one of their ships at Christmas and what a mistake That was! They were sliding down the Bannisters of the stairs and going up and down in the elevators and doing tricks in the halls! Never again will I take ANY cruise on Any line Except when school is IN. Carnival Attracts families and young singles looking for a Quicky so if You want a Really Decent cruise you Don't want Carnival. I have cruised a LOT and the Best is RCCL. We have a 12 year old daughter whom we pull out of school every year for a week and every year we go on a week long cruise. Mostly Carnival but we have been on Disney and Royal Caribbean It is not affordable for us to go during the summer during peak season. Even being absent for a week in the classroom setting our daughter continues to make straight A's and scores at the top of her class on tests. My daughter learns to take responsability for her own education as she gets the majority of the school work ahead of time and she does it before we go. That teaches her to be responsible for her own education Life is never so perfest that everybodys scheudle can be dictated and micro managed by the school board. When we go on our cruis we go to all the historical spots that the cruise agenda offers. My daughter doesn't just read about life and history she experiences it. She has been to the Mayan ruins in Mexico, the turtle farms in Grand Cayman, Hemingways house in key West and she understands how fortunate she is when she sees the povery of the dominican.
