Hotel Impossible, which features hotel fixer Anthony Melchiorri getting struggling hotels back on track, will film early next year at the Carnival Motor Inn on Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach. The Myrtle Beach episode is expected to air during the summer, though a specific date hasn t been set, said Erin Styles, a spokeswoman for the Travel Channel.
George Brickwedde, who bought the 24-room property on the oceanfront near 25th Avenue North in 2012, said the national TV exposure and advice from experts could help the family owned and operated hotel, which had a slow summer.
The fourth season kicks off at 10 p.m. Jan. 27 and will feature the 100-year-old Alaskan Hotel & Bar in Alaska. Other episodes will be filmed in destinations such as Estes Park, Co.; Hollywood, Calif.; Homestead, Fla., and Las Vegas.
Hotel Impossible is the latest in a number of national TV shows that have filmed recently along the Grand Strand, including The Food Network s Restaurant Impossible, HGTV s House Hunters and a new show called Holy Smokers becoming a home based travel agent that will air on Discovery networks.
Myrtle Beach s biggest flash on the small screen was through TLC s Welcome to Myrtle Manor, which is based in and filmed in the city in Patrick s Mobile Home Park. Filming for the second season wrapped up earlier this year and will air sometime in 2014.
