MSC confirms last month s rumor for an order of two massive newbuilds thrifty car rental international reservations with an option for one more from Fincantieri as part of a program that will double the line s capacity by 2022. The order was signed at the Palazzo Chigi in Rome in the presence of the Italian Prime Minister thrifty car rental international reservations Matteo Renzi, by MSC Cruises Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago and CEO Gianni Onorato thrifty car rental international reservations and Fincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono.
Dubbed “Seaside”, the ships will be the largest ever built by Fincantieri and will represent a completely new design for MSC. With a price tag of €700 million each, they will be funded with the support of the insurance thrifty car rental international reservations and financial company SACE. Set for delivery in November 2017 and May 2018, they will be 1,060 feet long and 135 feet wide, with a gross tonnage of 154,000 thrifty car rental international reservations to accommodate up to 5,300 passengers and 1,413 crew. The ships will have 2,070 guest cabins, 759 for crew members, and 468,230-square-feet of public areas. The Seaside prototype features thus far unique to MSC are a sea-level promenade that circumnavigates the sides of the ship with outdoor spaces, shops and restaurants and panoramic lifts with sea views. A press release claims that these new mega ships will be able to dock in any port around the world.
From the moment we started talking with Fincantieri, we had in mind to design and build two completely new ships, thrifty car rental international reservations revolutionary in their structure, unlike anything that exists on the market today, said Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises. Seaside thrifty car rental international reservations is a futuristic prototype because of its structure, shape and versatility ”
Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, declared, This is a special day for us These ships, which represent a genuine design challenge, will be developed entirely by Fincantieri, confirming our technological supremacy over other shipbuilders globally.
With the arrival of the new ships we will reach a capacity of about 80,000 passengers a day, said Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises. As of today we have launched an investment plan of over €5 billion that includes new builds, ordered in Italy and France, and the conversion of four ships already in the fleet.
I ll be very direct .they are exceptionally unattractive! Looks like a piece of a large apartment complex was placed on a hull and set afloat. With over 5,000 passengers they will not be intimate and aesthetics aside one wonders what s the motivation for a passenger to take a ship like this. Sadly MSC has set back the Italian tradition of building thrifty car rental international reservations beautiful passenger ships by 70 years. Guess they will have to be real creative with the names for these ships in any case.
I don t like the design, but it is new and original, if unattractive. I think a lot of ships are switching back to midship machinery due to stability reason. QM2 s architect Stephen Payne said that a lot of ships are copying some of the great liners traits for stability and strength reason.
Come on Jon, look on the bright side ! Your mother-in-law could get lost during your cruise .I could go on .but if there are 4 or 5 school tours on the same cruise,I would jump ship at the next port !
The seaside design is actually thrifty car rental international reservations based on the Mille concept unveiled by Fincantieri last year. While admittedly not the most attractive ship, there are a number of interesting innovations that make the design more efficient and stable.
Once deck plans are released it will be interesting to see exactly how different these Seaside ships will be from the typical cruise ship designs we are all used to. Like many of you, I m not thrilled with the look of these ships but I am encouraged to see innovative designs after decades of cookie-cutter Vista and Grand-class ships.
@Nils: Are ships built to attract? To a degree yes, as the ship itself, particularly thrifty car rental international reservations its exterior, is the largest individual advertisement a shipping company can have. There appears to be a recent thrifty car rental international reservations trend amongst industry observers claiming that the way ships look doesn t matter, but in my experience this simply isn t true. People can and do judge shipping companies based on how attractive they think the ships are externally, and this can and does affect their decisions when choosing a ship to sail on.
I agree Kalle.I cruised often with companies from cunard to celebrity,Holland America etc..but some companies or some of their ships i never will sail on just because thrifty car rental international reservations i hate how they look from the outside.I sailed Cunard s QM2 but wont NEVER book a cruise on the other two ships in the fleet.I just hate the Vista class ships and the enlarged versions of them.I thrifty car rental international reservations will never try the Oasis class for the same reason. Will never try Carnival or Costa, none of their ships are good looking and all look the same.To thrifty car rental international reservations make it short,it matters to me how ships look from the outside. If i dont like them,i dond care for them.
Having sailed Vista Class ships with Cunard, thrifty car rental international reservations and Holland America Line, I really do not care for the HAL editions, yet, somehow, the Vista Class works quite well with the Cunard versions. It is not a matter of taste, it is more a matter of how the actual product has transcended from the basic blue print to the Cunard execution of these ships. thrifty car rental international reservations They work, and work well, although, the aft of the QUEEN ELIZABETH being squared and boxy, and the fact that there is no full promenade on neither ship, QUEEN ELIZABETH thrifty car rental international reservations and QUEEN VICTORIA.
Having sailed many times with Celebrity, I adore the Solstice Class ships, yet, my personal thrifty car rental international reservations favorite Celebrity ship is the CELEBRITY SUMMIT. Here is a case where, for me, its whats inside that counts. The very aura of the famed SS NORMANDIE permeates this ship.
From the Normandie Restaurant, with its Lalique lighting accents, to the restaurants vestibule, with mementos from the famed ship, menus, silver thrifty car rental international reservations flatware, crystal and other items, to the very French feeling this room has.
Then there is the statue of La Normandie, standing tall in the Cosmopolitan Restaurant, thrifty car rental international reservations the ships main dining room, original to the SS NORMANDIE and once a featured statue in Miami s palatial Fontainebleu hotel.
Interesting. I far prefer the VISTAs (well at least those that I have sailed in, EURODAM thrifty car rental international reservations and NIEUW AMSTERDAM) to QM2. In looks, layout and general efficiency of handling lots of passengers. thrifty car rental international reservations I ve sailed twice in QM2 (Queens Grill and Britannia) and while the service and cuisine were really quite good, the ship is a confusing mess inside, terribly laid out and with the except of a few rooms like the Commodore Club, poorly decorated and furnished. The VISTAs are remarkably spacious and uncrowded and HAL ones far better than the STATENDAMs in this regard. But as for choosing any new ship based on external thrifty car rental international reservations appearance.. a waste of time. You can squint at any and all of these all you like and they are still all variations on Ramadas-on-a-Raft.
Interesting, you like me like the various Vistas that we have sailed, *some HAL ones aside, The two Cunarder s are quite grand in its purpose, and I wonder, as perhaps you do, why others trash these ships, especially when it is quite obvious they have never set foot on them, let alone sailed them.
As for the QM2, I adore it, inside and out, I find the layout to be quite neat as it is, perhaps a jumble that would befit a two class liner, surely the contemporary liners when opened up for one class cruising were also a jumble to get around.
I have dined in Britannia, as well as Britannia Balcony, Princess and Queens Grills, and I will give my personal A+ rating to these new Cunarder s, and to Celebrity, all classes here, as in my forty decades of cruising, these are the two best examples out there that even begin to hold a candle to my beloved SS France.
Keneth, you thrifty car rental international reservations say its obvious they never set a foot onboard them, let alone sailed them.I have sailed thrifty car rental international reservations Eurodam,i didn t look forwart to it,just needed another cruise that connected an earlier cruise and only she visited some ports i never visited before.I must say i hated the ship, never before i was on a ship as boring and ugly as Eurodam.Other ships i sailed on were QM2,Infinity,several Princess ships and Norwegian Sun to name a few.All these ships gave me a wonderfull vacation and great memories,Eurodam is the one i consider a waste of money.I thrifty car rental international reservations never will set a foot onboard her or another Vista again, dont care what company they sail, just hate them.
