Although Magaluf is a great resort, with plenty of things to keep the average family occupied, it is always good to get out and explore once in a while! Majorca is a fantastic island with tons of things to see and do that you may miss unless you get yourself some transport. It is, of course, possible to hire a car as soon as you leave the airport.
