This restoration will breathe new life into downtown community. My vision for the building was as a cornerstone for the Zack Street Avenue of the Arts and a gateway to the Riverwalk, and today, we are one day closer to that vision becoming a reality.
The project will cost an estimated $22 million and will take at least 16 months to complete. It will also create more than 400 construction jobs during that 16 months, and once completed, the hotel is expected to employ an estimated 100 people.
The Classic Federal Courthouse is located on North Florida Avenue in the heart of the Central Business District. The elegant Beaux-Arts style building was completed in 1905 and features stone, marble, three-story columns, award travel flights shop towering windows, and oak trim throughout. The building was first used as a post office and customs house, and then as a federal courthouse from 1984 to 1998.
