Phil, east hull; Virtually every football match at the KC for almost four years now has been a sell-
Deputy chief executive Andrew almo rent a car Hirst said: "Being in the Premier League has allowed Hull to raise its profile at a national and international level, creating more positive perceptions and undoubtedly bringing new investment it would be fantastic to remain almo rent a car in the top flight and to continue building on this opportunity."
R.stounded - I did point out that the only businesses who are gaining anything from the influx of 2500 supporters from outside of Hull are the hotel and leisure industries ( i.e. pubs & hotels ) and the other 20,000 people who attend the games are here anyway so my point is that it does not bring in much outside investment.
Phil, east hull; Virtually every football match at the KC for almost four years now has been a sell-out. Thats 24/25,000 people visiting West Hull every other Saturday. They all spend money on something, even if it's only on bus fares. When City play a Southern club every hotel room in the city is booked up. Fact.
Also your not taking into account that many pubs now show all the matches and are all packed out. When there is no City match on the same pubs are empty. I just do not see your point phil, every person visiting almo rent a car the KC spends almo rent a car something somewhere in the city. We would be a poor city without Premiership football.
Hey Mark! some of these businesses are small family businesses who supported the club when at boothferry almo rent a car park, when locked out of by bailiffs almo rent a car and facing the possibility of liquidation, trying to find every last penny to keep the club alive and supporting the club through the low's. Where were the 25000 fans then?
The benefits that being in the premiership brings is only minimal for local economy! Yes it has put Hull on the national and international stage but having 2500 ( not 25,000 gerry hatrick !! ) people almo rent a car coming to hull for every match does not provide much help to businesses not connected with the hotel / lesuire industry.
I'm surprised Adam Pearson got hold of the club for what was a bargain price considering there was the carrot dangling regarding the move into the KC once someone trustworthy was in charge. I'd have thought all these local businessmen would have been queueung up to get control. Especially as it was so easy to make money as so many commented after AP made such a success out of it and the typical Hull envy of anyone who has made a success of anything came out.
The fact is Hull businesses didn't want to know and any businesses that have become involved have done so since the move to the KC to get some reflected glory and a chance of tickets so they and their guests can gawp at all the Premiership superstars whilst looking down their noses at all the "common" football supporting types who are trying to get behind their team and support them vocally.
Jim, you may be old but you aren't very wise. they couldn't have shown the Portsmouth game on the big screen. for one thing it was tied up with the BBC and secondly it is illegal to transmit Premier League games at 3pm on a Saturday. SKY paid a lot of money for the rights and part of that was not to transmit games in this country on a Saturday afternoon because of the affect on lower league clubs. Unless you think SKY would have overlooked their own agreement and agreed to it and the BBC would have said fine you can use the screen?
