Been using Econo for the last few years and have been very satified. I pickup/drop off at the airpor
yes, i have imposed upon poor localisa to spend a part of her day researching the names of all car rental agencies. she came up with a nice long list that is supposedly in business as of this moment. that isn't to say that next week there won't be more or less of them but this should be about as complete atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown as it can be on 5 september 2008, lol.
i would appreciate if you didn't pass judgment on any company you haven't used since before 2007. a lot can change in a year or two such as new management or ownership. other than that, all bets are off, lol.
Been using Econo for the last few years and have been very satified. I pickup/drop off at the airport or this year since it was after 9 pm when I arrived (I don't like driving in the dark), I took a taxi to The Aruban and picked the car at their other office at La Quinta the next morning. Since I was there for 3 weeks, the car did get very dirty. After shopping at Ling Sons, I would stop at their office by Quality Apts. (not far from Texasco roundabout) and get the car cleaned at no charge.
I have been using Optima for the last several years and have been very happy with their cars and service. They answer my emails promptly, their prices are fair in my opinion, atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown and their cars are in very good condition. Up until this year, I was able to pick up the car at the airport. This year a representative met me at the airport and drove me to their off-airport location, which is no more than 5 minutes away and on the way to town. My rental car was waiting for me, and I was in and out of their office in less than 10 minutes.
I used Ace and Royal. I thin I would choose Royal again- off airpor but not hard to find they do pick you up.I loved the free cell phone even though I did not use it too much. Also had 2 friends atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown use Royal and both were very pleased.

I used Tropic this year after jumping around looking for the best deals over the last 10 years. They were absolutly the best. Hans met me at the airport parking lot with my car, did the paperwork right there and we were gone in 10 mins.. They are very accomodating ( as Hans and I walked around the car, he pointed out the little dings and said all cars in Auba have them.He atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown dosn't worry about them. Made me chuckle). They were there at the departure drop off and picked up the car. Great Great Great.
A few choices in the list have only been used once. I didn't atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown think it was quite fair to say yes or no, so I skipped them. For example, I'd give Tropic an 85% rating, but they goofed on the pickup at the airport, so we moved on. I have been willing to change based on good reports on the various bulletin boards, discounts like the VisitAruba card etc.
I can't imagine every renting from anyone but Hans at Tropic Car Rental. I have been renting from Hans for fifteen years. He is punctual, courteous and a good businessman. His rates are fair, and his cars are good. The one time I had to call him during my stay to say I had an issue with the car (muffler) he arrived within an hour with another car. He meets me either at the airport or at ABC and again meets me at the end of my vacation wherever I choose to return the car. I have recommended him to at least thirty people who thank me profusely and always return to Hans. He's the best.
Love this thread but would really like to see 4 wheel drive availability noted. We would love to try Hans @ Tropic but they don't have Jeeps or the like. Hate to make work for LocalLisa but that would be really really helpful for us--the only reason we rent a vehicle is to travel to the other side as we could use taxis or the bus otherwise.
Upon my arrival at the airport I was shuttled to Royals' office across from the airport. There I was with my luggage and using my walker when they showed me a not so new big pickup truck and told me that was all they had. I said I could not possible even get into a truck like that and 3 more times they said that was all they had. The problem with these off site places is that there you are tired from traveling, with your luggage and no other rental place to go to.
Finally, they said they would contact a local rental and they found me a 2002 Toyota. It was nice of them to get me another company but they knew my flight atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown number and when it was going to arrive and they did not have the car I reserved atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown or any car for that matter.
I have spoken about Hans (Tropic Car Rental) many times, but I have to mention it again. I have been renting atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown from Hans for countless years, as have many of my friends. He is the best!!!!! I have had my car now for three weeks. Yesterday Hans emailed me and said he had passed me on the highway, and the car looked dusty. He said, I will gladly come and take it to the car wash. This morning I went out to the car and it was sitting there shining!!!! Only Hans would do something like that. Not only does he reasonably price his rentals, he is punctual atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown and professional. I recommend him highly.
atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown Aruba Mary! There are quite a number of us who are Hans/Tropic atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown fan club members. One cannot say too many good things about Hans; he is A Number One in our book!! Friendly, courteous, reliable, punctual, fair. All of these descriptions....and more!!!
just returned from the island two days ago. we were steered to ALL DRIVE car rental by the conscierge, linda, at the rennaissance, atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown we were told we would be getting a chrysler town and country or dodge caravan. atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown when the pick-up person arrived, she was driving a car so small, we barely got our luggage in. we told them we had seven people we were renting atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown for. ** what if they were all there at the pick-up time? they would have all had to sit in the hotel lobby for two hours, while we were driven to a very remote area which i would have been worried about if i hadn't been referred by the conscierge. fortunately there were only two of us at that time. we had the others to pick up a little later.
we were driven about 40 minutes to their office , where there were about a hundred junky looking cars about. after filling out the paperwork, and feeling like a hostage at this point, we were given the keys to a hyundai H-1. this is like a dream team van that can hold up to 12 people. it is a diesel as a lot of the vehicles are there, but not what we ordered. they said they didn't jnow anything about a caravan, and didn't have any.
we got the luggage in this van, and got out of there. they did leave almost a full tank of gas, and said to be sure it was full when it came back, and by the way - leave a ten dollar bill in the ash tray when you leave it in the airport parking lot, as they have no spot there for return, or pick up for that matter. we were given bad directions we could barely understand, and no map out of the area we were in. fortunately, after being lost for a little atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown while, we produced our own map from the depths of our luggage.
this is the oldest vehicle we have ever rented, had a a billion miles on it, rode like rocks, and had no power , speed at all. the first time we needed the headlights, three days in, they did not work properly, one was out the other flickering. the air was marginal, and it was hard to shift into drive or reverse. we thought the auto shifter was going to come off. we tried to get hold of linda at the rennaissance, several times, but to no avail. the rental company had a busy signal for two days. so we kept it.
our original atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown reservation was with thrifty, who were going to give us a kia carens, which is advertised on the site as a 7 passenger, but is not for 7 adults, and certainly no luggage. it is a compact van at best. we found out before atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown going with all drive, after talking to linda at the renn. she was going to help make arrangements in getting the thrifty car to the hotel, instead of our arrangement at the airport. it was she who did alert us that the karens was not what we needed. but she blew it with all drive.
Just happened to notice: Only three car rental companies rate 'double-digits'. Tropic, Royal and Econo Car. We chuckle a bit when we read of all the problems folks have had with most, if not all of the other companies. When you find a good 'thing'....stick with it!!
ok, so a lot of you are hans fans . question; atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown is it just hans, or the company in general? sounds like he must run the comp if he can run around spritzin up your ride. i have always prided myself on persoanl service, and it sounds like he does too. sounds like a local company. does he have a selection, or just a few to pick from? if you call tropic will you normally be able to deal with this man, or is this service simply the way this comp does business? wouldn't that be nice?
been burned recently by all drive, and was not estatic atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown the year before with thrifty either, whom we have used with good results in other places. thrifty got effort points for trying to get more out of me. they were persistent, but we prevailed...........of course they didn't have what we were reserved, but oh well. i'm just a little gun shy after using a local co, all drive. they were even recommended by the consciege at the renn., atlanta and hotels and lodging and downtown linda. i wonder how much they pay her to say these truly absolutely beat old wrecks are good vehicles. and whoever said - you are tired by the time they take you off site, you are right for sure. you feel like a hostage.
Han's (owner) and Dennis are the only employees and both very nice. If there is a problem with the car, they will be there to help. If car is rented for more than 2 weeks, he picks it up and cleans
