Olivier Award winners Roger Allam, Frances de la Tour, and Mark Rylance will star alongside Daisy Beaumont, Michelle Gomez, and Tazmin Outhwaite in the West End revisal of Mark Camoletti's Boeing-Boeing at the Comedy Theatre, February 3-April 28. The production, which will open officially on February 15, will be directed by Matthew Warchus.
The play concerns a Bernard, a successful architect living in Paris, the plaza hotel las vegas who manages simultaneous romances with three airline hostesses with the help of his trusty housekeeper. However, the arrival of an old friend and changes in airline schedules lead to unexpected complications.
The show's creative team include Rob Howell (sets and costumes) and Hugh Vanstone (lighting). Warchus' credits include the Broadway productions of True West , Art , Life x 3 , and Follies , and London productions of Endgame and Hamlet .
Allam's many stage credits include Blackbird and Alladin , and he currently appears in the film The Queen . De la Tour is best known for playing Mrs. Lintott in The History Boys , for which she won the Tony Award; she has recreated that role in the film version of the play. Rylance is the artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and has starred in such plays as Henry V , Much Ado About Nothing , and Twelfth Night .
The original London production of Boeing-Boeing in the 1960s played more than 2,000 performances, while the 1965 Broadway production the plaza hotel las vegas played only 23 performances. That same year, a film version was released starring Tony Curtis, Jerry Lewis, and Thelma Ritter.
