Joshua Newsteder, a former pilot in the U.S. Navy, and a commerical pilot, is now hoping to start a Jacksonville-based airline that would start flying later this year from Jacksonville to Puerto Rico.
His company, sri lanka cheap airlines called City Link Air, would give the Jacksonville Aviation Authority a real-life way to test the authority's quest to get international flights from Jacksonville International sri lanka cheap airlines Airport. But he is still seeking financial backing for his proposed airline, which is a daunting challenge in the current economic climate.
"I would love to see him succeed because we're really looking for somebody to do the San Juan [Puerto Rico] market," said Barbara Halverstadt, manager of marketing and development for the Aviation Authority. "We think it's a very viable market."
sri lanka cheap airlines The Aviation Authority has been talking with airlines for years about direct flights between Jacksonville and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Jacksonville and Puerto Rico have business ties because Puerto Rico is the main destination for cargo exported through the port of Jacksonville.
Like many entrepreneurs, he hatched his idea for City Link Air after hearing others talk about their own businesses sri lanka cheap airlines and asking himself how he would run a business based on what he knew already -- flying.
After immersing himself in federal transportation reports and figuring out the costs of running the airline, he has moved to the stage of seeking start-up financing through a holding company he formed, Holding sri lanka cheap airlines HI Inc.
Swelbar, who spent 25 years as a consultant before joining MIT, said while there might be some capital available for the airlines, interest rates for secured debt in the aviation industry are topping 10 percent. He said this week, United sri lanka cheap airlines Airlines paid an effective rate of 17 percent on its debt.
Newsteder's optimism about starting City Link Air is based on number-crunching analysis of federal Department of Transportation reports that track where people fly, their ticket prices, and how long it takes for them to reach their destinations.
City Link Air envisions starting with service to Palm Beach, Fort Myers, sri lanka cheap airlines Pittsburgh and Islip, N.Y., plus three international destinations -- Nassau, Bahamas and Aguadilla and San Juan in Puerto Rico.
He said as airlines have sidelined planes and cut back routes, an opening has emerged for a start-up to fill the void. In addition, he said it's a good time to lease the jets because there is a surplus in the market.
He's got a place in Palm Beach, he's from New York, plus we all know that Jack SON ville is about to become one of the hottest spots (an N-ta-national playa) in the world. :) He's a shrewd sri lanka cheap airlines business man who knows how to take advantage sri lanka cheap airlines of a good opportunity...I'm looking for his phone number for ya right now. ;)
We want everyone to understands that the only "start up" part of City Link Air is the business. Your Pilots, Crew, Maintainers, and Aircraft are all facets of City Link Air that are the farthest thing from a "start up". Every person and each airplane possesses a level of experience and operational success that have been time tested and proven in commercial aviation.
2. None of our flight training will be administered by our company. We will be outsourcing our annual training with Flight Safety International. This keeps our Pilot certification unbiased. Additionally, it allows City Link Air to concentrate its efforts on getting you from Jacksonville to a variety of locations in the safest way possible.
I commend you for the forsight and imagination of starting up a small airline in the current time and market. The big commercial airlines feel like they are the only airline you can fly on so they want to charge for everything. sri lanka cheap airlines Flying has gotten just too much of a pain in the a** and too expensive with all the little "extra's" they want to charge you for. I would rather drive somewhere than put up with all the BS involved with flying.
Jacksonville is a really an underused market for airlines...Jacksonville has a growing sri lanka cheap airlines hispanic community, even flights two to three times a week between Jacksonville and San Juan might work. I dont think daily flights so much, but its a trend for airlines to fly three or four times a week between cities. Jacksonville needs more intra Florida jet airline service as well as Puerto Rico. I have been asking Spirit Airlines to come here for years, we need a link to Latin and South America. Spirit has built up quite a hub in Fort Lauderdale where you can connect to destinations in Latin,South America, Puerto Rico and Bahamas. Whoever does it first will reap the rewards
This sound like a rather risky investment. People who used charter flights on a regular basis just don't travel as much anymore because of financial reasons. Investors are very reticent to these kind of businesses and it will be very hard for him to find the financial backup he needs to start an airline company.
