Mango communications manager Hein Kaiser, who is in the metro ahead of the December 5 route launch, said they hoped to stimulate disney cruises discounted travel and the economy by luring more corporate travellers by providing low and competitive airfares.
Kaiser compared the two new routes Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth and Cape Town to Port Elizabeth to the airline's existing route from Bloemfontein to Cape Town, which took a while to gain popularity but is now one of its busiest routes.
"The route now has major downstream benefits for Bloemfontein's car hire companies, retailers, hotels and restaurants. Aviation has the ability to stimulate the market and the economy. It also tracks GDP growth really well," he said. Until now Mango, a subsidiary of South African Airways (SAA), did not fly to Port Elizabeth.
"It has been on the cards for quite some time now. We are not coming here necessarily to replace disney cruises discounted 1time. For the last three years across various social networking sites there has been an overwhelming call for us to come here.
"We have found that the weight of in-flight magazines also has an impact. There are around disney cruises discounted 186 magazines on each flight and if you remove them from every flight for an entire year, you can save around R100000 a year."
