Better Business Bureau is issuing a warning about Austin-based Platinum Travel Network's deceptive post cards. Consumers allege they receive post cards with the American Airlines or another well-known airline's logo telling them they won two free tickets.

More than a dozen consumers have filed complaints against Platinum Travel Network, many alleging they were subjected to high-pressure sales tactics after attending the presentation. Some alleged they felt misled by the post card and the company did not provide the promised tickets.

BBB contacted the company about its misleading claims as well as the use of the American Airlines logo, which leads consumers to believe the offer is associated with the airline. The company did not respond to that letter.

My husband and I attended a presentation which we expected to get a high pressured sales pitch to join a travel westin hotel indianapolis club. They offered 2 free airline tickets with AA and 3 free nights lodging with Marriott chain. We spent a good deal of time waiting for the program to begin. They had many people standing around waiting to talk to the three couples attending. In the end the presenter did not show and they just handed out the certificates which required $50 for the hotel and $70 for the airlines, to activate the account. Another refundable $50 deposit for the hotel reservation. Oh, they also offered 50 percent off car rental westin hotel indianapolis and $100 certificate for gasoline.
Definitely sounds too good to be real. Haven t been able to find anything about this particular company but I don t think I will be responding. I probably already gave them too much info such as my email address. Nothing more.
Received almost the same post card, this time with the Travelocity logo. Offers westin hotel indianapolis 2 free round trip tickets on Southwest, Jet Blue, United or a comparable airline , plus a 3-day, 2- night weekend at a hotel such as Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton. In fine print at the bottom, it mentions that restrictions apply and finally this, This promotion not sponsored by Southwest, Jet Blue, United, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt or Travelocity. Received the Travelocity post card, called them at the number given and of course, I couldn t get anything from them in writing. Did an Internet search and found this site. It s clearly a scam. At the very least, they are phishing for personal info. At the most, they are fraudulently obtaining money for a service or product that they don t provide. I don t understand why these operations can t be shut down more quickly than they are.
Also received a flyer from US Airlines for two free plane tickets plus 3 free nights a hotel for coming to a meeting. I called to check it out. was asked a bunch of questions. I gave them a false email and phone number and will not go .The company said it was from Worldwide Travel of Cleveland operating out of the Sheraton at the airport..
I recently received a postcard in the mail with the American Airlines logo and Fly Away Promotion same deal offer as the previous comments. I was suspicious it was a fraud since it didn t contain my frequent flier number in the address. I m glad I searched the web and read these posts. I do hope the people doing this are caught and punished.
Oracle Travel Promotions is definitely a scam. They got us for $120. They promise airline tickets and hotel stays but only lure you along making more and more rediculous restrictions on your reservation times until it is completely un-doable. They will not refund your money, making some phony claim on restrictions. Run! Don t do it!
Received a postcard that claims to be a Travelocity hotel gift card on may 23, 13. Lots of stuff on this card tells one that it is fake tried contacting you several times must be claimed 7 days after postmark (of which there is none on the card) bulk rate mailing. Good for the USPS to get some business, but this can t be legal.

Yesterday my wife received in the mail a check for $1350 for US Airlines with an accompanying letterexactly as some of the above comments. Curiosity made me call the number 1-866-918-4886 and I spoke with a person who explained that if we attended a presentation in Mansfield, MA we would receive these two tickets to anywhere in the continental US. ? The address for this presentation was 800 South Main St. Suite 03ll in Mansfield, MA 02048. I said we would attend(NOT) on June 8th at 10:00 a.m.I am sorry I gave out our e-mail but glad I checked with the BBB. Perhaps these shemers can be put to justice. Thanks for the alert.
Last fall I received a postcard that indicated I had won a free trip for two anywhere in the continental US if my wife and I attended a 90-minute (no pressured) presentation in a local hotel. Unfortunately, we did attend but did not commit westin hotel indianapolis to their resort plan. In order to get the free airline tickets plus a two-night stay in a hotel anywhere in the continental US we had to send in an activation fee, followed by a registration fee. Stupid us, we did that. I will try to retrieve this money (which had to be postal money orders only), but I don t think that will happen.
