The Royal Caribbean liner The Explorer of the Seas pulled into port in Bayonne, N.J., just after 1 p.m. The 10-day cruise was cut short after suspected norovirus left passengers and workers stricken with vomiting and diarrhea.

Give us a break...this is just one incident in a litany of cruise ship mishaps. My father-in-law is on that boat. He called my wife and said he did get sick but he is feeling better. They go on these cruises a lot. I personally would rather go to an all inclusive resort for adults only in Cancun what car to rent for april wedding or whatever. At least you get a real sized room and you can actually LEAVE. My boyfriend has sailed on the Explorer 17 times, this have never happened to him. (I have been on it 5 times, and we are boarding it this Friday, Jan 31) Never had this happen either. The crew does an excellent job cleaning railings, elevators, door handles, ect... All it takes is one person. My fiance and I are planning on using Royal Caribbean for our Honeymoon. She's a frequent guest on their cruises but it'll be my first one with them. Honestly not worried. I mean it's a cruise what car to rent for april wedding ship it's easy to get spread sickness.
My family went on a cruise last year with Disney (super nice ship, just lots of kids) and my sep-mom's dad got dysentery. They pretty much quarantined him, the cleaning crew scrubbed the room with gloves and masks, meals were delivered. As another poster said, at least if you stay at a resort you can leave. A cruise has absolutely no appeal to me, but that's based on the way my husband and I vacation. I see the appeal of a cruise-lots of sunshine, relaxation, and everything taken care of, it would be ideal for a lot of people-provided one has a strong gut immunity.
