I have been trying to find a hotel for Columbus Day weekend. I visit every year. However, this year the hotel prices are shockingly high. Should I wait until the last minute and try Priceline? Any suggestions.
If the prices are this bad 6 weeks before arrival, I wouldn't expect to find much via Priceline 5 weeks down the road but you might get lucky, who knows? If you're going for certain...book something that's cancellable so that you don't get stranded.
Have you or anyone oxford hotels traveling with you on this trip been in any of the armed forces? If so, you can stay at the Marine Memorial Club in a great part of San Francisco for very competitive rates. We've stayed there several times and it's nice.
Fleet week in The City is October 9th to 13th and that is always a big draw, so, presuming that Fleet Week coupled with the convention traffic has pushed rates up.
