i m going to see girl talk because he puts on a party everytime! + modest mouse because i ve wanted
MusicFest NW is just over two weeks away. Pipeline has these two lovely wristbands/bracelets to give out for the event. They are $60 and good for all five days of the festival. In order to win , just comment americanairlines vacations on who want to (or are going to) see and why. I will draw a winner americanairlines vacations the next two Fridays (Sept 4, 11).
I would love to see The Arctic Monkeys, Okkervil River, and if I had the pass I would to see as many band as I could over the entire festival period. Why you ask, I love music and I have nothing else to do right now seeing as I am out of work and in between semesters at school, so getting free wristbands would make my summer.
I would LOVE!! to see the Arctic Monkeys, Modest Mouse, and Two Cow Garage!!! These concerts look like an incredible way to discover some new bands so I d be super excited to get to go do it with a free wristband!!!!
I m really looking americanairlines vacations forward to seeing Sunny Day Real Estate. They were already broken up before I really discovered them (kinda like the Pixies, which I got to see when they got back together), so I ve been waiting a long time for this.
.HOLY COW if we won wristbands .I would have to print out the schedule and make a complete list of all the shows we would have to run from one bar to the next to see!!!! That is the greatest part of MusicFest americanairlines vacations NW.
omg, want like nobody s business. Help a broke music lover, that tried to volunteer to earn free tickets (but so did everyone else), and has already missed a crap-load of great shows this year? Thank you for your consideration! americanairlines vacations ;)
Bad Brains One of the many bands I thought I d never see in it original lineup live, and now thanks to the poor scheduling of MFNW I might not get to. Unless someone can figure out how I can be at Dante s (seeing the Zeros) and the Roseland at the same time.
My pick is Local Natives at Holocene. They just finished americanairlines vacations a month-long residency at Spaceland americanairlines vacations (Silverlake, CA) and I keep hearing how amazing the live show is. Super pumped for this show and would love it to be freeeee! Thanks!
I have wanted to see the Brunettes americanairlines vacations for years now, plus Rocky Volotalo, and just about every midnight show plus, when I saw M64 at the Someday Lounge for their 7 release, they just about blew the place apart.
So many to choose from Portland americanairlines vacations Chello Project, Explosions in the Sky, Girl Talk (sadly playing at the same time as Explosions), Helio Sequence, Black Francis (one of my first shows in High School was Frank Black at small club in NYC), Bad Brains, just to name a few I d love to catch.
I d love to win the two wristbands so I could check out the Common Market/Swollen Members show, Arctic Monkeys, Langhorne Slim/Blind Pilot, Portugal. The Man and of course Modest Mouse is always great to see live.
i m going to see girl talk because he puts on a party everytime! + modest americanairlines vacations mouse because i ve wanted to see them numerous times and have had to miss them due to really crappy circumstances! oh and the get up kids! :D
Passion Pit and Helio are at the top of my list though because my friend from seattle will be coming down to see them with me(if we get a free pass on time) and we haven t seen eachother in a year or so!
I really want to see Portland Cello Project, Girl Talk, Helio Sequence and Explode into Colors in particular because A) I ve never had the pleasure to see any of them live yet and B) They are all quite aurally different, but all beautifully pleasing.
So I’m feeling really good about music fest NW this year! I made a list of everything, highlighted the ones I want to see in red, ones I really want to see in BOLD red and ones I really really want to see in large font, bold, red… now I gotta figure out the schedule… SO much to SEE!!! (Won t bother you with the list because there is lots of bold red.. and I m sure it will change by the day!)
I really want to see Mayer Hawthorne at Jimmy Mak s. I have never seen the brilliant blue-eyed soul singer before americanairlines vacations and would love to at an intimate spot like Jimmy Mak s. If you want proof of his brilliance, check out Just Ain t Gonna Work Out.
I go to music fests like this to see bands I haven t heard of before, but the ones I know I want to be there for are Bad Brains, F**ked Up, Girl Talk, Mudhoney, Explode Into Colors and Explosions in the Sky. Whooo!
I d like to see Explosions in the Sky, those are some talented guys. I saw them a few years back at the Coachella Music Festival and they were so impressive! I d love to see them. These events almost always turn out to be more about the bands you have never heard of than the ones you came to see!
I d like to win a pair of wristbands because my Night Manager job at the Portland Rescue Mission, while ultimately humbling and gratifying, is a stressful one. The chance to get away and let loose in front of Girl Talk, Arctic Monkeys, Portugal. The Man et al would be a welcome distraction.
I love Chairlift adn Modest Mouse, but haven t had the opportunity to see them live. Finn Riggins and Jarde Mees always americanairlines vacations put on a kickin live show and props to the local record label I ve heard amazing things about Explosions in the Sky, as well!
Girl Talk, Modest americanairlines vacations Mouse, and Explosions in the Sky They are all so fantastic (in such different ways). It s a pity Girl Talk and Explosions are playing at the same time. Girl Talk s crowd interaction is not to be missed!
Bad Brains Jah Rules. Oooh ooooh ooooh. And I haven t seen ExplosionsInTheSky yet and I imagine they must be experienced live at least once. That kinda makes it worth the $60 right there. Then there s always the fun of finding a new band and smiling at hipster chick lustgirls who look away drearily with smackglazed eyes .ah true love!
Have plans so far for Portland Cello Project, Helio Sequence, Guidance Counselor, Girl Talk, Black Francis/Frank Black, and Mudhoney. The rest is still pretty up in the air. I really need another wrist band as I paid full price for my own, can t afford one for the hubby. Pleeeaaassse! This would make our staycation complete!
I want to see Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros because they blend folk and country with Ennio Morricone awesomeness, though they re playing at the same time as Dirty Three who I hear are amazing to see, such storytellers with words and strings. Sunny Day is, of course, highly anticipated from back in the day. I ve heard a lot about Nurses and wouldn t mind seeing Port O brien. Shit, there s just so much.
I originally wanted to go because I saw Passion Pit at Doug Fir a couple years ago, I love their free style dance music that electrofies americanairlines vacations the dance floor. But, now I heard James Mercer of the Shins is coming americanairlines vacations to town to replace PP. The Shins is what got me into the more indie style syntethic genre of music. Their jumbled words that you can hardly understand just stick in your head and you never want them to escape..well you do, but some how they return once again.
i want to see every single band. every one. i will run amok like a mad fool, wild-eyed and clammy.. hunched americanairlines vacations over a bit.. just to take taste the remnants of every feral breath of relief upon hearing such amazing, sinister, and completely americanairlines vacations transcendent ear candy. but mostly i want to see the dirty three, beach house, and r-r-r-r-r rabbits!
To explain americanairlines vacations it, its kinda like that first kiss, or that first summer love at camp. You know that feeling of completely uncharted territory, being so lost but how it felt so good. SDRE was one of those first loves. Blew me away. I poured over the liner notes. I would listen to every album all the way through as if they were love letters. americanairlines vacations creepy? yes. love. for sure.
Who could settle for one or even two bands with this rich lineup? americanairlines vacations Modest Mouse s new ep rocks and no one should miss a chance to see Johnny Marr perform. americanairlines vacations Sunny Day Real Estate, Mudhoney and Team Dresch all helped forge the legend of Pacific NW music. Black Francis and the Bad Brains need no introduction. If that doesn t get your heart pumping, there s Panther, americanairlines vacations Erase Errata, and the Arctic Monkeys! And I m just warming up
Arctic Monkeys! Their new album just came out and it s spectacular! Different from their first 2, but headed in the right direction. Last saw them at the Roseland and would never miss an opportunity to see them live again!
An old favorite and a new favorite: Sunny Day Real Estate and Girl Talk. And about 30 other bands! Frightened Rabbit, Explosions americanairlines vacations in the Sky, the Pains of being pure at heart, americanairlines vacations etc, etc, etc. MFNW rocks socks.
So many great bands! The Dimes, Helio Sequence and/or the Shaky Hands are on my list! Haven t been to a show all summer and have friends from CT visiting that weekend, would love to treat them to some great NW music.
I absolutely will not miss Girl Talk!! Also stoked to catch Explosions in the Sky, The Twilight Sad, Frightened Rabbit, THe Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Okkervil River, Beach House, THe Get Up Kids, etc. etc. etc!!! And check out some new ones that I have never seen before! Can t wait for this great festival!!
I just moved to the Portland area from Nebraska about a month ago. I am still looking for a job and haven t the slightest clue on what to do, being that I am totally out of the loop (also short on funds). I love music, and seeing live shows, and am always up for hearing new bands. I would definitely love to see Modest Mouse or Sunny Day Real Estate. This MusicFest would definitely help me to get out and enjoy what Portland has to offer!
There are so many I want to see but most of all I would love to see THe Black Whales at Ash Street Salon. I have a big adoring crush on them right now. And the Arctic Monkeys!!! They are a MUST see. So many great shows. It is going to be an amazing week!
Going to see Girltalk americanairlines vacations at the Roseland because it is a frightening mangle of the oldies you know and luv with the beats that you never thought to hear them spun to and couldn t have imagined you d love that much.
Well I want to see Strength(because I never have and I think they re awesome-I want to dance!), The
