Searching for shark teeth would have been memorable enough, but our weekend also had a few surprises

We decided to take advantage of the long weekend and drive over to Venice, Florida.  Venice is a nice little beach town on the West coast of Florida overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.  Venice is known for beautiful beaches where fossilized shark teeth wash up on the shores.
We headed down on Friday, arriving around 3:00pm.  We checked into our room at Inn at the Beach.  There aren t a lot of hotels near the beach in Venice (somewhat rare in Florida to not find many beach hotels) and this one got good reviews.  It turned out to be a great choice.  It s right across the street from the beach and the rooms are very clean.
We immediately changed into our swimsuits and hit the beach.  We swam and snorkeled.  The water was a very comfortable 82 degrees.  The surf had kicked up a little with the afternoon wind, making it difficult to see much underwater, but we did see some fish swimming around.  They were swimming right around our feet and I assume they were eating little bits of something that got kicked cheap las vegas car rentals up in the sand as we walked.
Saturday morning we drove down to Caspersen Beach, which is a few miles south of Venice.  This is supposed to be the best spot for hunting shark teeth.  We walked down the beach, alternating between looking on the beach, looking in the surf, and looking in the water.  The shark teeth are found among the shells, just laying there waiting to be picked up.  It was kind of like playing Where s Waldo, except Waldo kept changing size and shape. Dream and Faith got really good at finding them in piles of shells.  I had better luck finding them in the surf.
The big ones in that picture are about the size of a Quarter.   We searched for shark teeth all morning and then ate lunch at Sharky cheap las vegas car rentals s on the beach.  After lunch we headed back to our hotel room for a shower and a nap.  We found some great shark teeth, and Faith wanted to make a shark tooth necklace.  I did a little research on the Internet cheap las vegas car rentals to find out what supplies we d need, and then drove to a Micheal s craft store in the neighboring cheap las vegas car rentals town.  We picked up some beads, cording, clasps, wire, and a tool kit.
We went back out to Caspersen Beach on Sunday morning and found more shark teeth.  Faith was having a great time.  She alternated between searching for teeth and swimming along as we walked down the beach. It was a great experience for all of us.  It was fun to search for these fossilized shark teeth.
Searching for shark teeth would have been memorable enough, but our weekend also had a few surprises for us.  We saw dolphins swimming a few hundred yards offshore.  We also saw a manatee swimming in the ocean, something we ve only ever seen inshore in rivers and springs.
Welcome to Rethinking the Dream We are a family that has decided the American Dream of Home Ownership isn't living up to the hype. The normal American Dream is a set path towards home ownership and filled with buying stuff. We're sick and tired of that and we want to rethink that dream. We want to spend less on stuff and more on activities and events that can enrich our lives and our life experience. Please join us on our journey.
