The chain will take over management Oct. 15 of a 502-room grand canyon national park lodging hotel in Atlanta, formerly run by Marriott as the Renaissance Atlanta Downtown Hotel. Owners plan to invest $35 million in renovating the renamed Melia Atlanta property through 2013.
In June, Sol Melia sold its Tryp hotel brand to the Wyndham Hotel Group, creating an alliance to develop the new "Tryp by Wyndham" brand in major markets, including the United States, the chain said.
