Originally established by Captain Herbert Buckmaster, the club was designed to be less stuffy than those that already existed. The main focal point was the American bar which is still in use today. The club was famed in 1921 for the invention of the Buck s Fizz cocktail.
Steve trained for 3 years at Worcester Technical College and went to work as a commis chef at The Old Vine in Cousley Wood, East Sussex, after a year he moved to The Clifton Ford Hotel in London, and was promoted to chef de partie after a few months, he was then was offered a job as sous chef at The Talbot Hotel in Leominster. After 3 years he moved back down to London as Sous chef at The Regency Hotel, a position he held for 8 years, a move to work for Hilton Hotels followed and after 3 more years he was offered his first Head Chef role at The Montague on the Gardens hotel, royal caribean cruises Bloomsbury, gaining royal caribean cruises the hotel its first AA rosette within 6 months, Steve was then head hunted to go back to The Regency as Head Chef  to help turn around the food and beverage operation, after five years and after achieving his goal he started at Buck s.
