Its finally time to finally ditch that winter coat, as the warmor warmerweather is heading into town for the season. JetBlue is keenly aware, however, that travelers emerging from this long winter may not quite be ready to leave the coats at home just yet, so the airline is now asking, "may we take your coat, please?"
Theyre partnering up with CoatChex to get the job done, and passengers can find the coat check service at JetBlue's New York-JFK Terminal 5 . Theres no claim ticket to fumble with, as the system is all technology-based, thanks to mobile checking and smart tags which grab all the necessary information. Passengers step right up and type their phone number, initials, and other details into a digital kiosk, then smile for a quick snapshot .
When they return rested, relaxed, and with a nice tan, all that needs to be done is provide the last four digits of the registered telephone number. Staff is around to confirm identifies by checking pictures, and it's simple as that.
Right now CoatChex can be found in the main marketplace in the terminal, but JetBlue says the CoatChex folks will have a centrally located kiosk beginning this fall to hold onto even more coats. As for pricing, its just $2 per day and $10 for an entire week .
It sounds fine and dandy to us, but our one question ishow much stuff can we shove into our pockets before handing over our coat? That would be one way to avoid getting dinged for an overweight piece of checked baggage.
If thats a little too expensive for youtheres always Korea as Korean Air has been offering something similar for free over at Seoul's Incheon International Airport, and theyve been doing it for years.
