The Mexican government dedicates substantial resources to protect visitors to major tourist destinations, and there is no evidence that Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) have targeted U.S. visitors or residents based on their nationality. During some of these incidents, U.S. citizens have been trapped and temporarily prevented from leaving the area.
