WHAT WE LOVE: MSC, an Italian cruise line, is currently focused on establishing a presence in North America, and that means it s facing alamo auto rental stiff competition in the popular Miami homeport where Divina is based. What results is bargain pricing that you simply won t see from most lines. Cabins start from $43 per person, per night so about a tank of gas but your ship will take you on a much farther commute through Phillipsburg, San Juan and Great Stirrup Cay. With such low rates, you can spring for a top-category suite (MSC Yacht Club Royal with large balcony);  at $291 per person, per night, your value for money stretches much farther. For lesser luxury, balconies run just $81 per person, per night. Divina, MSC s newest ship, is known for its elegant and sophisticated interiors.
WHAT GIVES US PAUSE: This deal, like any, is subject to change and rates have done so even over the last few days. Fares this low probably won t hover in that range for too long, and ports may change in the coming months. If you re simply looking for a cheap Caribbean sailing, and you re open to an Italian line still getting a feel for the U.S. market, it s worth a consideration. Because this cruise is set to sail the weekend after Labor Day, you may at least experience a quieter atmosphere onboard.
