The Federal Aviation Administration gave American Airlines permission Thursday to sell 22 takeoff and landing slots at New York’s LaGuardia Airport to Southwest Airlines, plus another 12 to Virgin America.

American and the other carriers have agreed to transition the operation of the slots over time in order to minimize customer disruption.”
