While Spooksville signs became a familiar sight throughout the Cowichan Valley and even Victoria, locals were excited to interact with cast and crew when ArtBeat invited Spooksville to join them for one of their Friday night street parties on Willow Street. Spooksville Night at ArtBeat drew a huge crowd. A number discount cruise vacations of the cast and crew joined in the celebration, including some disguised as zombies. Some of the main teen actors jumped in Spooksville’s spooky Cadillac for fun and engaged with the public while several props used in the series were available for viewing discount cruise vacations on tables nearby. The Spooksville Costume Contest featured a dance. Winners were announced and given certificates with the opportunity to be background performers for upcoming episodes of the show. Spooksville won the 2014 Leo Award for Best Series and the 2014 Leo Award for Best Performance (by Mackenzie Gray) in the Youth/Children’s Program category. The show received six 2014 Daytime Emmy nominations and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design/Styling.
Spooksville received Honourable Mention at the 2014 Cynopsis Kids Imagination Awards for Best New Series (6 to 11 years) and Best TV Series Based on Books.
