Airport officials announced plans to replace each of Hartsfield-Jackson’s 4,342 210-watt metal-halide fixtures with Cooper Lighting’s 80-watt light-emitting diode (LED) fixtures. The environmental impact of the transition to the LED lights is equivalent to taking more than 600 cars off the road. The lighting retrofit is part of a $6 billion capital for improvements, which include a new, energy-efficient rental car center, a new 12-gate international terminal and aesthetic and functional upgrades to its concourses, people movers and parking services. “Replacing parking garage lighting with more energy-efficient options is one of the most practical upgrades a city can make to save energy, reduce california wine tours costs and lower CO2 emissions,” said Mark Eubanks, President, Cooper Lighting.
Aviation General Manager Louis Miller said, “we are happy to provide greatly improved lighting for our passengers using these parking facilities.
