NEW THIS YEAR: Registration and judging will take place at 5 p.m. at The Wildwoods Convention Center exhibit hall lobby. You must register travel agent magazines to be judged. Lineup will be in the front circle of the Wildwoods Convention Center and parade steps off at 6 p.m. heading south on Ocean Avenue to Crest Pier, Heather Road, Wildwood Crest where winners will be announced.
WILDWOOD – As you get ready to plan that 2015 vacation, you might want to factor in a bottle of sunscreen and a yen for a wonderful time. The rest the world now knows what residents and visitors to the Wildwoods have known for years – when it comes to a great vacation, the Wildwoods are number one.
In a Dec. 2 announcement, the Wildwoods were named first in the nation in the 2015 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Destinations on the Rise awards. Included in the 10 destination list were vacation hotspots travel agent magazines like Telluride, travel agent magazines Colo., Nags Head, S.C. and Waikola, Hawaii.
“The TripAdvisor community has helped surface some unheralded destinations across the globe that are receiving rave reviews from travelers worldwide,” said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor.
According to organization’s announcement of the list, “A visit to Wildwood, New Jersey feels a bit like stepping back in time. Many of the area’s motels were built during the doo-wop era of the 1950s and ‘60s, and the Boardwalk’s carnival games, frozen custard stands, and kitschy souvenir shops sprinkle the two-mile stretch travel agent magazines with nostalgic flavor. Beachside amusement parks, mini golf courses, pier fishing, and water sports are fun for all ages, and Wildwood’s bars, pubs, and clubs pulse with the vibe of summer fun.”
