U2 has announced a massive 2015 world tour in support of their new album Songs of Innocence , called the iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour. They will perform two nights at the TD Garden on July 10-11, 2015.
The announcement comes on the heels of U2 s surprise performance at Times Square in New York City to raise awareness for World AIDS Day. Bruce Springsteen filled in on vocals for Bono, who is recovering from serious injuries sustained in a bike accident.
With eight months to go before playing Boston, Bono has plenty of time to make a full recovery. This marks the first time U2 will perform at the Garden since the Vertigo Tour in 2005. They last played New England in 2009, when they sold out two shows at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro on their top-selling 360 Tour.
A previous rumor suggested that U2 could be playing as many as four nights at the Garden. There is a weeklong gap between the second Boston show and the band s next stop at Madison Square Garden in New York City; this could be an opening for potential additional dates in Boston, barcelona hotels cheap depending on the demand for tickets. Last time U2 brought an arena tour to Boston, they played seven shows at the Garden over the course of 2005.
