Alaska Cruise The wife wants to go on an Alaskan Cruise. Went to travel agent yesterday and we have some preliminary hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica options picked out. Looking at a 7 day cruise starting on Vancouver, Inside passage, Kethcikan, Icey Strait Point, Juneau, Skagway, Hubbard Glacier and ends in Seward.
Anyone been on an Alaskan Cruise hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica that has any input. Mainly looking for excursions that are a musts, must sees in these areas, etc. Time frame is early to mid June. I would love to go Salmon or Halibut fishing but not sure if that will work. We are figuring in flying one day early to Vancouver so we do not miss the cruise as there are no other places to hop on if missed. Probably fly out of Anchorage the night we get into Seward off the cruise.
Of the preliminary cruise lines Royal Caribbean hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica looks to have the best option with the ship the Radiance. Anyone hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica have experience with this ship? Last cruise I went on was in Europe on the Norwegians Epic. Not a huge fan of cruises and travel agent talked the wife out of an inland Alaska hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica vacation in the Denali/Anchorage/etc. realm.
Forgot to add wife wants to do a real dog sled excursion and in June the only way to do this is et helicoptered in to a glacier and then take a ride in true snow/icey conditions. That is great and all but is around $600 per person. Anyone do this excursion and think it is truly worth it? (I could have a private all day fishing trip for just us for 1,200 )
Wife and I went on NCL's Pearl last August out of Seattle and had a great time. Excursions up there can get very expensive. You'll want a full size camera with a 300-400mm lens or a pocket camera with a 20x plus zoom. I bought a Nikon COOLPIX P530 s just for the trip because I did not want to haul around all of my DSLR stuff. Its a great camera with a 42X optical zoom

I am not a camera guru by far and my 5-6 year old Nikon Cool Pix will probably have to be updated for said trip. I like my Nikon so I will have a peak at this camera. Thanks.
Best excursion I ever did was Flightseeing tour into Misty Fjords National Monument hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica out of Ketchikan. Book private thru Misty Fjords Air. www.mistyfjordsair.com . Owner, Dave, is a Vietnam Vet. Great folks!
Did the Alaska cruise this past summer. Celebrity Solstice hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica out of Seattle. Excellent ship and service, much better than my experience on the RCCL Liberty of the Seas. I met several cruise afficionados on the ship that had cruised many other ships and just about all of them said the Solstice is the best. They had an upgrade we took on the ship called the Aqua class -wasn't a very expensive upgrade and it gave you the option of eating in a couple of premium restaurants that you normally would have to pay extra for. And the entertainment on the ship was excellent - so much more to do than RCCL (although that ship catered somewhat to kids under 18).
The highlight was probably going through Tracy Fjord, a narrow passage way with ice/snow covered mountains on both sides and small floating icebergs through the passage way. Talk about being blown away! Stopped at Juneau, hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica Ketchikan Skagway. I remember the dog sledding as being one of the many options for offshore excursions but we did other things like going on a crab boat pulling up crabs, all you can eat Dungeness crabs at a lodge, etc.
If you're stopping at Skagway, that's defintely hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica an interesting port - Skagway used to be theplace to get your hooker and the original neighborhoods still exist at the base of the mountain - the Hooker tour as I call it (I forget what the actual tour name was called) was great.
One other note - make sure you get a room with a balcony. It's the one thing you have to get to see the views 24/7. Nothing like getting up at the crack of dawn (at 3:30AM) and viewing the amazing scenery.
I do not feel a balcony is needed if you really want to see and photograph as much as possible. The fjords are narrow (hence, it's a fjord) so being up top somewhere gives the option to walk from one side of the ship to the other to photograph and sight see.
We did a three week Alaska journey. Started with a small boat cruise (about 200 passengers). Did the inside passage on a 10 day cruise. Stopped at a port a day. One thing about the big boats is that not everyone gets a chance to get off at each port. The ships are so big that they can't dock and have to anchor up and tender passengers to shore taking lotsa time. Also, some of the really big ones have onboard lotteries and if you don't get your name picked, you remain on board for the port stop. If you book your shore trips independently and you're late returning to the ship - it's gone. If the cruise hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica line books your side trip and you're late, the boat waits.
We got off the boat at Juneau spent a couple nights there and flew to Anchorage where we caught the train to Denali. We spent 2 nights outside the park and then 5 nights at backcountry lodge well within the park. Then reboarded the train to Fairbanks for a few days and then the flight home.
It was a great trip and we saw tons of stuff. Out of the 7 days or so at Denali, the weather was clear for 5 of those - so incredible views including the flyover we did. I actually got to co-pilot but he wouldn't let me land the plane. hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica No guts, no glory.
hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica Oh, just reread your post. No bugs on the boat, some monster hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica mosquitoes on one of our shore trips Still cool there end of May. Light 20 hrs/day which is fun. This is what I wanted to do instead hotels resorts in montego bay jamaica of cruise. Just do an interior tour and go to Denali for a few days. Figure can do all the excursion items and stay on land and I believe I would have a much better time.

Did it 2 years ago. I booked all our excursions online (away from the crowds) and got exactly the results we wanted. Inside passage, Seward to Vancouver, get a balcony. Choppers are a must do but the float planes with the big radial engines are off the charts.
