One of the things that I think can make or break a family vacation is the accommodations. Where we sleep while away from home is way more important when traveling with kids than when traveling without them. We spend more time in the room, we need more room, and getting atlantic city bus tours brooklyn a good night's sleep is essential to a family in order to have a good day. On our last trip, we stayed in 3 different kinds of accommodations. Each had their own advantages and disadvantages, and they had similarities, too. Here is our take on the home-away-from-home options.
Our first few days in the Tampa area were spent at the Holiday Inn Express in Oldsmar . Our room had two queen beds, one in a separate bedroom, a pull-out sofa, a small kitchenette with a microwave, coffee maker and a fridge, and a huge bathroom with a tub and a shower.
Hotel rooms can feel cramped with a family of five, but this one did not. There was ample space for luggage, playing and relaxing at the end of the day. But it was still a hotel room. Not that cozy or fun. This particular hotel was in a commercial area, so atmosphere was lacking. But the location atlantic city bus tours brooklyn was close to our friends, and central to the places we wanted to go.
Next, we crossed the state to Cape Canaveral and spent a few days in the Ron Jon Cape Caribe Resort . This one made me nervous because when I booked it online, I found mixed reviews, some people loved it, some people not so much. I wasn't sure what to expect. In the end, we fall into the "Loved it!" category.
Our room here had two doubles bed in a separate room, a queen sofa bed. We put the kids in the bedroom, and we took the sofa bed, which was actually fairly comfortable. The bathroom was small, with just a shower, but the kitchen was big, and there was a full table to sit at. We ate most of our breakfasts and dinners in our room.
This resort is great! I would go back and I would recommend it to any family. The pool area is enough to make you love it. Splash areas, lazy river, hot tubs, water slides, and a huge pool. They also have their own beach, which you can take a shuttle to. There is mini-golf, a kids climbing play structure, and we even saw a magic show.
At night, the pool area was lit up, and we would sit out and enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony, maybe catching a cruise ship on its way out to sea. In the morning, coffee on the balcony while planning our day. Nice.
Back to the Tampa area, and a lovely vacation rental, Coconut Villas of Dunedin . This was another one I wasn't sure about before we got there, because atlantic city bus tours brooklyn with vacation rentals, you just never know. We have had good luck in the past, and this time was no exception. We had a good feeling when we drove up to this cute villa.
There were two or three of these units, with 4 apartments in each one. What I love about rentals is that it really is like being at home, away from home. It lets you feel what it would be like to live somewhere else. We had two bedrooms with double beds, and a queen size sofa bed, which was less comfortable than the resort one. We still put the kids in the bedrooms, because we wanted to watch TV, have a snack and relax after they went to bed. This one, too, had a small bathroom and big kitchen/eating area. They have bikes and barbecues available to use, as well.
This was the place where we were most relaxed, partially atlantic city bus tours brooklyn because the theme park, attraction part of the vacation was over, and partially because this rental was so calm and comfortable. Nice, quiet yet friendly neighborhood, central location, quick drive to the beach. atlantic city bus tours brooklyn Gotta love that!
There were two pools on the Coconut Villas property, the one right next to us was not heated, and was freezing! We wandered down the street to the other pool, and found it much warmer and more enjoyable.
PS: We left our youngest son's favourite hoodie in this condo, and did not realize it was gone until we got to the airport. atlantic city bus tours brooklyn I sent the owner an email, she checked with the cleaners, the cleaners found it, and they mailed it back to us! Awesome!
So, each of our accommodations had distinct advantages and disadvantages. The cost was comparable, and the basics were almost the same, number atlantic city bus tours brooklyn of beds, laundry facilities and pools at each one. We had no serious issues at any of them, and would recommend atlantic city bus tours brooklyn all three to other families. It was kind of fun to experience the variety in one trip. Overall, atlantic city bus tours brooklyn we tend to enjoy the vacation rental when we travel because of the convenience atlantic city bus tours brooklyn and space, and not all destinations have the same family friendly hotel options as Florida does. I will definitely be looking for more (reasonably priced) resort opportunities in future travels.
We are a family of five who loves to travel! But we didn't realize how much fun it could be to travel with kids until our oldest boys were almost 4. Before that we were afraid to travel with them. All the stuff you have to take, all the planning, it is expensive, and what if one of them gets hurt, or lost, or... it is just too hard. As it turns out, traveling with kids is hard. But it is also rewarding, fun, wonderful and awesome. And it is always worth it.
