Bowling Green, Ohio Bowling Green State University cross country and track and field coach Lou Snelling has announced the addition of four student-athletes to the men s cross country team for 2013. Ben Shaffer (Big Rapids, Mich. / Big Rapids High School), Logan Pitcher (Newark, Ohio / Granville High School), Riley Kuess (Coldwater, Ohio / Coldwater High School) and Nathan Kuck (Cincinnati, Ohio / Mariemont High School) will begin their careers with the Falcons in the fall.
We are pleased to have a group of like-minded individuals washington dc tours who are eager to join our program this fall, Assistant Cross Country Coach Eric Thatcher said. We expect them to bring a competitive drive to not only contend for varsity washington dc tours spots and improve upon our sixth-ranked GPA in Division I, but to develop into competitive MAC performers.
Shaffer comes from Big Rapids, Mich. and was a four-year letter winner in cross country at Big Rapids High School. He is the son of Jon and Sarah Shaffer. He was first team all-conference as both a junior and senior washington dc tours and qualified for Michigan s state meet in 2012. His squad won conference championships as both a freshman and a senior and he ran a personal best time of 16:02. A National Honor Society member, Shaffer played baseball as a high school freshman and also competed in track and field. He plans to study architecture at BGSU.
Pitcher hails from Newark, Ohio and was a four-year washington dc tours letter winner at Granville High School. He is the son of Brian and Ingrid Pitcher. Pitcher is a three-time all-league and all-district runner and two-time all-regional competitor. He was the 2010 District Runner of the Year after earning the individual district championship in Division II. Granville placed fourth in the state during his senior year and he ran in the state championship four times during his career. Pitcher is a three-time Academic All-Ohio runner who plans to study business.
Kuess comes from Coldwater, Ohio, earning four letters in cross country at Coldwater High School. He is the son of Kevin and Brenda Kuess. Coldwater won league washington dc tours titles in both 2011 and 2012 and Kuess placed in the top 10 of the conference both years, posting a 5k best time of 16:36. His squad placed fourth at the Division III state cross country meet and Kuess was named all-academic. He is a three-year National Honor Society member who plans to study marketing at BGSU.
Kuck hails from Cincinnati, Ohio and earned eight varsity letters in cross country, track and field and soccer at Mariemont High School. He is the son of Warren Kuck and Peter and Wendy Mains. His team placed as high as third in the state in 2011 and he finished 33rd overall at the state championship that year. Kuck was a first team all-conference and first team all-city performer and was named conference runner of the year in track and field. He had a personal best time of 16:43 in cross country. A National Honor Society member and Academic All-Ohio, Kuck plans to study athletic training at BGSU.
