In January, we tipped readers off to the addition of 1,200 renovated rooms at Westgate 3 star hotels in prague Las Vegas , many of which are now designated as the Signature class. Located in the central tower of the Benihana Hotel former LVH (and, before that, Las Vegas Hilton), Signature accommodations promise magnificent ambience and uncompromising 3 star hotels in prague quality. Lured in by all of that boasting (and a very tempting price), I decided to celebrate my three-day birthday weekend in all of this supposed luxury. Did the Signature class live up to heightened expectations?
Westgate is clearly a property in transition. After receiving yet another round of rebranding, the current state of Westgate is one of identity crisis. Elvis memorabilia and large remnants of the long-defunct Star Trek Experience compete with timeshare hawkers for your attention. An uncomfortable mix of business 3 star hotels in prague travelers, rowdy partiers, low-budget thrill-seekers and child-laden families (the most screaming, running children this writer 3 star hotels in prague has ever seen in a Vegas hotel) resulted in my witnessing of several shout-fests during my stay. This hodgepodge of demographics was undoubtedly attracted to the absurdly low rates. ( Signature rooms were available for a $46 average nightly rate, Friday through Monday, through a Hotels.com special. Standard rooms were going for $31. Yes, that was weekend rates.)
3 star hotels in prague My companion and I arrived around midnight, and although the check-in line was extremely long, the desk was well-staffed 3 star hotels in prague and processed guests rapidly. Perhaps too quickly as they failed to tell me my king reservation was being switched to two double beds. So much for that romantic weekend getaway. Sigh...
Too tired to go back downstairs after a long flight, we gave the room a quick inspection, chose our respective 3 star hotels in prague tiny bed (insert frown-y face here) and called it a night. Mattresses (Simmons Beautyrest Chadfield Recharge Signature mattresses with a layer of Transflexion Comfort Technology, if you desire specifics) 3 star hotels in prague were amazingly comfortable, enhanced by large pillows that were both firm and supple. Unfortunately, the premium sateen bed linens had an unpleasant itch-inducing, sandpaper-y texture, forcing me to sleep on top of the duvet. All the better, since the rooms air conditioning wasnt working, making for a long, hot night (but not in a good way).
In the morning, we got a better look at our newly refurbished accommodations. Furnishings in Signature rooms are very contemporary, and by that I mean plain, simple and shoddy. Wobbly nightstand, rickety desk, cheap dresser with thin-bottomed drawers... you get the idea. It appeared the room hadnt received a thorough cleaning in a very long time. Every visible surface was coated with a heavy layer of dust, spots and fingerprints. When I turned on the bedside lamp to get a better look, the light bulb fell out and landed on the floor. Lavish black-out drapes were old, dusty, and concealing filthy windows adorned 3 star hotels in prague with a large, faded piece of masking tape that had clearly been stuck to the inside of the glass for weeks.
At this point, I headed to the Keurig for a much-needed coffee. Alas, housekeeping had neglected to stock the room with Keuring K-cup pods (or empty coffee cups, for that matter). Inside the Keurig was a used pod from the previous guest. I tossed it into the trash can along with a beer bottle cap that Id just stepped on, probably 3 star hotels in prague courtesy of that same guest. Looking to leave a note for housekeeping about the mess and missing necessities, I discovered the room lacked any writing materials. There were no lamps or nearby power outlets 3 star hotels in prague for the desk, either. Good luck getting any work done, Business Traveler.
If Id been given the King room that I had originally reserved my desk would have been replaced by a rich, heavy red leather pullout sofa. Sounds like a great place to stretch out and and try Westgates new high-tech Beyond TV entertainment amenity , right? Well, that might have been great if the streaming service had actually worked in our particular room. All we got was an on-screen error message, and several calls to the front desk went unanswered. Are you seeing the pattern of descriptions vs. reality 3 star hotels in prague here?
Tossing the remote with a degree of frustration, I decided 3 star hotels in prague to pamper myself in the Signature rooms exquisitely-adorned bathroom. 3 star hotels in prague Thats where, according to the Westgate description, the extravagance continues... spacious 3 star hotels in prague bathrooms that feature oversized mirrors, lit make-up mirrors, in-shower shaving mirrors and towel caddies." Haha, if they say so. What room 1402 offered was your typical hotel bathroom, serviceable and with a minimum of refreshing. The only new touches I could spot were a fresh coat of paint and a speckled sealant applied to the shower enclosures original tile and grouting.
3 star hotels in prague A standard-size tub (not oversized as promised) was still scratched and scuffed. A tired soggy shower curtain was way past its due date and the in-shower shaving mirror 3 star hotels in prague was nowhere to be seen. Worn-out faucet fixtures offered a steady flow of water that could not be turned off. A budget-basic toilet required two flushes to get the job done and was so low to the floor that you might think youd entered a limbo contest. The extravagant towel caddy was a Walmart-quality particleboard shoe rack, placed on the floor under an outdated 3 star hotels in prague Formica sink counter. No wonder the bathrooms arent pictured 3 star hotels in prague on the Westgate site . "First class amenities", indeed.
Since the front desk hadn't answered the phone, it was down to the lobby to speak to the desk agent (and finally get some coffee from the Fortuna 3 star hotels in prague Starbucks counter). I left my business card with the staffer, requesting to speak with the daytime manager and, hopefully, 3 star hotels in prague get a peek at the newly opened Concierge Level rooms and lounge . That call has yet to come through.
Westgate gives you the option to waive daily housekeeping in return for a $10 food/beverage credit. Considering the condition of the room when we arrived, you wouldn't miss much by taking them up on the offer. This requires a daily call to their housekeeping service, which logs your request. Hopefully, that system is better than their automated on-screen check-out service, which claimed there was no account associated with my room. At this point, I still have no idea if the room fees and credits were correct, or if housekeeping charged me $3.50 each for the missing Keurig pods. (They aren't included in the $22 daily resort fee nor is much of anything besides WiFi.)
Westgate proclaims that their Signature rooms provide "first class Vegas-chic in a dazzling Hollywood-inspired setting." The sad truth is that it takes more than a few Elvis/Marilyn prints and a fresh coat of paint to proclaim your remodels as "exquisitely adorned." 3 star hotels in prague Sorry, Westgate, but we're not going to approve this rehab.
Gotta pinch those pennies, huh Westgate! David Seigel needs to finish 3 star hotels in prague that $100,000,000 monstrosity of a home in Florida or his wife might throw a hissy fit as her underpaid illegal alien staff will have to make do cooking in one giant kitchen vs the 9 that are planned in the house.
WOW, no way I step foot in the Westgate until they make things acceptable for their customer base. There are too many options in Vegas to be hounded by timeshare sales people. Thanks for the heads up.
This was my go-to place in Vegas when Hilton managed the property. I always 3 star hotels in prague had enough Hilton comps to stay 5-6 days a year. The rooms were always clean and hotel staff were helpful. Though I haven't stayed there since LVH/Westgate, I have visited the property and it does seem to have gone downhill. 3 star hotels in prague Hopefully they can turn things around so this iconic resort doesn't end up like the Riv.
Your review reeks of failure to communicate between 3 star hotels in prague all depts. Mktg is boasting a better product that would typically warrant a higher price, sales is offering a low rate to appeal to every demographic (heads in beds), renovation team cut corners at every turn and didn't read anything the mktg department drummed up, the housekeeping team are understaffed 3 star hotels in prague and rushed to turn rooms. Being understaffed is a product of no money to hire more housekeepers. This is a classic case of "you get what you pay for". You can't have it all at the price of a Motel 6 room. Your expectations just may have been too high.
Doesn't Westgate sound like the location inside 3 star hotels in prague a prison somewhere? I stayed at this property when it was still "Las Vegas Hilton" and Manilow was the in-house entertainment. His show was good, but the hotel rooms were crappy. They were exactly as described in this article. You ever heard the saying, "Don't sweat the small stuff...(and it's all small stuff)? Well that's a great thing to say, but NOT in the hotel business. They DO need to sweat the small stuff if they are going to make it. Westgate/LVH/Hilton needs to get its act together, and fast! The only thing I can add to everything already mentioned (because 3 star hotels in prague I found the exact same thing in my room) is that they need to work on water pressure and temperature for the shower. It just drip cold water out. I felt like that guy on Planes, Trains, 3 star hotels in prague and Automobiles using the bathroom after John Candy. No how water left, only little towels 3 star hotels in prague available and if you want the big ones, they are somewhere else in the room. So the shower experience leaves a lot to be desired. Along with the permanent brown stains from dirty feet due to people standing in the tub. Come on, housekeeping---that stuff comes off you know!!! The only way I'll ever stay there again is if it's a freebie, because there is no way I would pay MY money to stay there. The Hampton 3 star hotels in prague inn on Tropicana is so much nicer than this place. Same with the one in Henderson 3 star hotels in prague and Boulder City. I would simply avoid this place. (Oh, and with me being a pretty big Star Trek fan, why did they have to get rid of the ONLY setup of its kind on the entire Strip??? Bad move guys...
...why a place that would spend so much money on promoting its renovations would fall so short on matching
