One thing that is worth trying is to take good close-up digital photos of the rental car both before accepting it, and upon returning it. And, let them see you taking the photos. This way, the chances of bogus charges might be reduced.
use your smartphone camera and film your vehicle after you have returned it make sure to cover every square inch of the vehicle so that you have proof that there is no damage when you return it. Also film it before you take it as well rather then relying on a piece of paper to state damage.
my question is how many of these minor repairs are actually fixed?? If you make a small dent in the bumper and pay the rental company $1000 to get it fixed, how or when do they ever prove they fixed the dent?? vacations cruises I think most of the time they leave minor damage, take your money and then wait to see if other renters miss seeing it on pick-up and then charge another vacations cruises $1000 for that supposed repair as well! It s a cash grab for sure, someone should investigate that as well.
They tried that with my wife. Even though return inspection showed no damage. Coincidentily our budget location is accross the street from a wild bar and accross the street from an all night convenience/gas bar. No fences or video camera monitoring vacations cruises the budget lot.
About time they were caught!! Always thought that there was something crooked going on there and that I wasn t their only victim. I was a loyal, long term Budget customer (more than 25 years)renting vehicles throughout North America, until being stung at their Vancouver Airport location several vacations cruises years ago. Upon returning a large SUV and in a hurry to catch a flight, they accused me of scratching the roof, which of course was false. The vehicle had been in an underground parkade for most of the rental period. They charged my credit card more than $700. I protested at the counter and upon returning home, by telephone to the Vancouver airport location management. They changed nothing. I wrote to the head office of Budget and received no response. Way to go CBC!
I rented from Budget at the Vancouver Airport for years. One day, I flew in for meetings at the VGH. When I returned the car, two Budget people zeroed in on the plastic hubcaps and claimed that I had damaged them by hitting vacations cruises a curb. A loud argument vacations cruises ensued as you could see that the damage was not new or recent and that I had rented for only the day. After realizing I rented from them once a month, they decided to let this one go . I never went back.
A similar type of problem happened to me at the Costco Tire Centre in Mississauga. I received my car back without the hub caps. The Tire Department Manager swore up and down that his technician spotted it when he drove my car inside and reported the problem to him. He repeated this fabrication in front of the Assistant Location Manager. The Assistant Manager told me that it was not their problem but were prepared to cover half the cost since I was insistent that the car had the hub caps when I turned the keys over to their employee.
To make a long story short, I found the hub caps under the tires that they placed inside the car. I notified the Assistant Manager at Costco, the Tire Manager is still employed (last time I checked)even after telling a customer (me) and his boss a whopper of a fabrication. No apologies from anyone for all the crap I had to endure. I no longer have anything to do with tire department at that Costco and I tell everyone vacations cruises I know the story and tell them to – STAY AWAY! The tire centre at Costco Burlington is absolutely great to deal with.
My suggestion to you is as follows – post the problems on their FaceBook pages (often) and any other social media outlet you can find, tell all your friends, send a letter to the President of the company with copies to all the newspapers, radio and TV stations requesting a refund (if they kept your money) – failing that go to small claims court. You can't be held responsible once the car has been returned and no additional damage(s) has/have been noted. Who is to say that their employee was not to blame for the damage or someone parking next to the vehicle on the lot before it is taken away for cleaning? Contact the credit card company and request a reversal of the charges because they charged vacations cruises something to your credit card without your approval.
This past June we took a trip to Orlando. We rented an SUV from the Orlando Airport. Budget over charged us on a number of items, vacations cruises and said we did not fill our gas tank up and charged us around $250.00 US. We proved that we did indeed fill the tank and we reimbursed. If we didn t have proof then we were left to pay the bill. Someone is scamming and we told them so at the time.
Last week, I rented a car from Budget in Las Vegas. Firstly, I was given a small car instead of full size, but still charged the same. The area to check the car is very dark and you cannot see everything. There is no such thing as a minimum vacations cruises size of damage that does not need to be reported. When I returned the car, it was inspected by a Budget rep. who zoned in on the windshield and found a smaller than a pinprick chip at the base of the windshield. He told me I was responsible for it and the windshield would have to be replaced. I had to fill out an accident report whereby I made sure that I did not accept responsibility for it and made the rep. give me copies of all the paperwork. I asked what happened next and he informed me that the records for the vehicle would be checked, and if a previous customer recorded the chip, I would not be held liable. Huh? Why wasn t the windshield repaired before vacations cruises I rented vacations cruises it. I was told it had to be replaced immediately as it was too dangerous to drive it that way! Then he told me that I would get a call from the insurance company vacations cruises and I was to co-operate with them.
A few years ago, I had rented from Budget and was T-boned at an intersection. I immediately called Budget HO in Canada while waiting for an ambulance. The man at the other end screamed and shouted at me that it was my fault I was in an accident vacations cruises and must pay the deductible right away. I told him I was injured and he just kept screaming at me more, at how I had damaged his vehicle. I hung up on him, but I should have learned my lesson at that time.
We were given a car to replace ours while it was in the garage. Our insurance covered it but we had to give our credit card. When we returned the car the owner of National charged us for a scratch on the car! Insane ,she even took the 300 off of our credit card. We called the credit card company and told them she did not have our permission vacations cruises to charge our card. So the credit card company credited the card. I think all car rentals over charge and charge for damages that were already there knowing we can t prove anything. I think with this kind of business they should have insurance for that and not charge the client!
I will never rent from Budget again, same thing happened to me in Winnipeg. A few weeks after my return I was charged for a crased tail light. Budget are morally bankrupt when they rip you off when there mas no damage done to the vehicle.
Had similar thing pulled on me at the Enterprise counter vacations cruises inside Parkway Honda in Toronto. The rep pointed out a nick the size of a dime on the passenger door and claimed it happened during my rental, then proceeded to ask where I ve been and how it could have happened. I stood my ground, and a lengthy vacations cruises challenge ensued. He continued vacations cruises to fill out an accident report while we were still arguing. vacations cruises Then I asked to see the rental papers of the previous customer renting the same car and asked to compare what pre-existed chips/dents/scratches were on that rental agreement. The rep didn t expect that and started to concede, but did so in a way that made him appear lenient or doing me a favour. I wonder how much had to do with the fact that I was a female customer. If it had been a burly middle-aged white male, would the rep hesitate to scam?
Big surprise it happened to me with the Vancouver Budget, they found a small scratch on the painted bumper after returning it. cost my credit card insurance $700 I told them that Budge was a bunch of crooks but they paid it anyways. Never again with Budget Bill
Never rented from them. Never will. Someone should capture all of these posts in an e-mail and send them to Budget and the others as well as publish them on Facebook. Time these legalized criminals vacations cruises were outed.
