Sad News - Andy Granatelli: Andy Granatelli, the former CEO of STP motor oil company who made a mark on motorsports as a car owner, innovator and entrepreneur, has died. He was 90. Granatelli's son, Vince, said his father died Sunday of congestive heart failure at a Santa Barbara hospital. Granatelli is a member of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame.( Associated Press )

Wood was born in Phoenix and attended Phoenix Union High. It saddens all of us at Phoenix International Raceway to learn of his passing. Racing lost a great one whose impact will live on.
Racing legend A.J. Foyt, a four-time Indianapolis 500 winner, was good friends with Wood. Denny and I had a lot of fun together through the years, Foyt said. He was a good friend, a hell of a sportswriter and a great race promoter. I liked working with him because he was a straight shooter and a hard worker. We had a lot of respect for each other. He was a hell of a guy. BK Racing gets new pit crew coach: BK Racing has decided to move in another direction with their pit crew coach and over the off season they hired long time Cup coach Gary Smith to run their program. Last year Gary worked with the Front Row Motorsports group and has spent many years before that as a coach and Crewmen. Gary brings years of experience to the team and sees an opportunity to improve at BK. "I've had the opportunity to work with Mike Ford before and we work well together. Rick Carpenter and the owners are dedicated to winning and that excited me about the future and building a good pit crew to help with the performance of the teams." Pit crews are generating a lot more attention due to the inability to pass on the track. Everyone is looking to make their teams better and adding Gary Smith to the BK line up is a good start. NASCAR Hall of Fame adds Teague's 1952 Hudson Hornet: As part of the revamped Glory Road set to debut Saturday, Jan. 11, the NASCAR Hall of Fame announced the final exclusive sneak peek of the cars included in the exhibit.
