Granderson does strike out but he also has no help no back up and why didn't the mets go after marti

The rest of the sport keeps trying to play matchmaker between the Mets and Cubs. Talk to an executive about the Mets’ search for hitting or the Cubs’ hunt for pitching cruising the pacific coast and inevitably you get some version of, “If you have any reason why these teams should not be united in trade, speak now or forever hold your peace.”
They have talked before cruising the pacific coast and will again this offseason. Yet, so far, neither wants to surrender its stronghold. In an age of decreased offense, the Cubs’ theory is he who has the most prime-aged quality hitters is king.
Also, the Cubs see avenues to rotation help without touching the hitters. Their pitching coach, Chris Bosio, has shown an ability cruising the pacific coast to resurrect careers (Ryan Dempster, Scott Feldman, Jason Hammel, Jake Arrieta). Plus with so many cost-effective young hitters such as Arismendy Alcantara, Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, Addison Russell, Jorge Soler, cruising the pacific coast etc., Chicago can use its money to buy pitching. Key members of the front office, for example, have long-standing relationships with Jon Lester, a free agent this coming offseason, and David Price, a free agent after 2015.
However, even if the Mets open their wallets to address offensive deficiencies, cruising the pacific coast the free-agent market is not as rich in high-end hitters as it is in starting pitching. Do the Mets want to, for example, dabble in multi-year deals with Biogenesis graduates such as Melky Cabrera or Nelson Cruz, or give injury-prone Hanley Ramirez cruising the pacific coast a long-term pact, though pretty much the entire sport believes he no longer can handle shortstop and should move to third?
Except the Mets — like the Cubs — do not seem in the mode or the mood to trade youngsters. An NL executive described the Mets this way: “They don’t make a lot of trades and that is because they really don’t like to give up what they perceive as their big talent, unless they can convince you to give them $2 for their 35 cents.”
Strategically, general manager cruising the pacific coast Sandy Alderson also is concerned how quickly you can go from too much to not enough pitching. Jacob deGrom’s shoulder hurts, Jeremy Hefner suffers a serious regression in his return from Tommy John surgery, Jon Niese’s shoulder is always cruising the pacific coast worrisome and Matt Harvey continues to rehab from his elbow operation. And the general tenor of the sport this year has shown just how fragile pitchers cruising the pacific coast are.
Which, by the way, is why the Mets would have to give up more than just a pitcher — no matter how talented Wheeler or Syndergaard is — to get a Cubs shortstop. And this is with the Mets concerned cruising the pacific coast about those shortstops. There will be big-time pressure to win in 2015, and do the Mets want to go through growing pains with someone such as Russell?
They worry about Castro’s defensive flightiness. But, for the record, I am a fan of the player. Though this is his fifth season, Castro, whose ninth-inning homer on Sunday against the Mets was the game winner, is a year younger than Harvey and just two months cruising the pacific coast older than Wheeler. He is extremely durable, something that can’t be said about more expensive shortstops who could be on the market — Jose Reyes and Troy Tulowitzki, whose hip surgery makes him borderline untradeable. Castro’s .766 OPS is third among qualified shortstops, but the two guys ahead of him — Ramirez and Jhonny Peralta — are going to have to move to third soon.
Nevertheless, the sense I get currently from the Mets is they would like to protect Harvey, Syndergaard and probably Wheeler and use other elements to solve positional problems. So I could see the Mets shooting a little lower on the shortstop food chain by trying to use Dillon Gee, Niese, Sunday’s starter Rafael Montero or others from their deep trove to see if they could get, say, the White Sox’s Alexei Ramirez or try for an Arizona shortstop — the Diamondbacks seem much more willing to talk Didi Gregorius than Chris Owings, but while a defensive whiz, Gregorius might not project to hit enough for the Mets.
The lack of quality available inventory at shortstop ultimately could push the Mets even more toward the Cubs, who have Castro, Russell and Javier Baez. The matchmakers just might ultimately have it right.
Mets should invest when the its really cruising the pacific coast time to regret later!! cruising the pacific coast If they would of gotten Jacob Ells like they said they would plus Granderson cruising the pacific coast and gotten pitchers instead of these other guys who are unproven things would not be like this today! Pay for a few great players and act see what happens wilpons hate to take chances on big top guys but u can't get on at a time w grander they should of gotten at least a Martin cruising the pacific coast Prado now where is he? W the yankees!! see why they don't know anything?
why all the talk w the silly cubs rotation for bc its a cheap get for  a guy who all of a sudden is hitting? get rid of this whole team is not worth a dime!! they don't gel and don't get better at all with this type of gm and owners have to go!!
If I was Alderson I'd look to trade Wheeler or Syndergaard thinking that deGrom can replace either of them. I'm not doing 2 top pitchers for one hitter though because cruising the pacific coast the Mets have offense coming so if they can get a quality glove with a light bat for less then I'd do that and look for minor upgrades in other areas.
Unwilling to trade quality to obtain quality, unwilling to spend the necessary money to contend, and unable to correctly evaluate talent, cruising the pacific coast the Mets will be a den of losing for as many years as the Madoff-Wilpons own the team.  Their incompetence and mismanagement have now reached epic levels.  The worst day in Met history was the one in which Nelson Doubleday left and Fred Wilpon remained.  It should have been the other way around. cruising the pacific coast   The Wilpons are as loathed as any ownership has ever been in the history of Sports.
Trade Harvey (pain in the a**) and Montero (doesn't appear durable) for Castro and a prospect.  Next year:  Wheeler, de Grom, Syndergaard, Niese, Colon, and Gee (pick 5, or try a 6-man rotation) and stick with our emerging bullpen.
Looked into going to Mets game this weekend -- have never been to Citifield. Was flabbergasted that the cheapest seat was $34, and that was for bleachers or upper deck. For Yankee Stadium I typically cruising the pacific coast spend $25 or less for bleachers or upper deck (and if it's midweek cruising the pacific coast I'll spend a lot less). Times that by 4, it's a significant difference. The Mets are an under .500 team how come their tickets are so high?
No reason the Cubs should cruising the pacific coast bother to trade their young studs.  Why would they give away hitting when they can just buy pitching?  Pitchers seem to fall off more frequently than hitters due to injuries, mechanical issues, etc.  I say keep you're hitters since offenses are declining, get Lester this offseason, and enjoy a winning season either next year or the one after.
Castro could be a Superstar in the future, but over the first five years oh his career, his numbers AVG out to 10 HR's-60 RBI's--.283 AVG-.324 OBP--.733 OPS per season. Not bad numbers, but not All Star numbers yet either.
cruising the pacific coast Not sure that anyone in NY is paying attention, but the Cubs have said repeatedly that they have no intention in trading any of their SS. That includes Castro, as he is the only one who is a proven MLB player. Russell was injured the whole first half, and is likely a full year away at least.  So why would they leave a whole in their own lineup for a guy who may not pan out, and they are not trading Russell or Baez.  Castro is emerged into a team leader who is their only clutch hitter.  He has nearly 840 hits in less then 5 years and is still years away from his prime.  Why would The Cubs want to trade him? You may want him but that means little.
cruising the pacific coast Granderson does strike out but he also has no help no back up and why didn't the mets go after martin Prado? or is he  too expensive?? Now theres almost no choices for hitters they are either too old or are no names!!! if the mets who always say we give the gm all the go ahead to get new players all they ever get is a bunch of nobodies all the time so no JACOB ELLSB NO JOHN LESTER cruising the pacific coast NOTHING AT ALL WHAT KIND OF TEAM IS THIS ANYWAY??
no i would not trade arms to the cubs for a castro i would keep them all and take castro! Why do the mets always think too late for getting great hitters?? they the biggest chance to get Jacoby ELLs and now its too late or can't find a cheaper bat bc they are too cheap!!! Well now its too late no bats no pitching cruising the pacific coast no nothing I'm sick and tired of the mets org doing this stuff!! Really am they just don't know how to pick players in their prime!! AT all!! Now guys like Jacob ellsbery cruising the pacific coast is with the Yankees!!!
imagine because the mets do not want to give up top of the rotation arms. Also the Cubs can address their pitching issues in the off season with free agency.  The Cubs do not need to move Castro either.
granderson and niese have cleared waivers - how about those two plus another pitcher for castro? curtis can end his career in his hometown of chicago and niese can  be a .500 pitcher elsewhere. right after tomorrow's day game would be convenient.
Regarding today's game: when you buy a product that has a broken part and consequently doesn't work well, if the seller cruising the pacific coast or manufacturer doesn't repair the part or replace the product or refund your money, you have been cheated. The Mets' closer has a broken part and, amazingly, is being trotted out and allowed to blow ballgames. This is yet another slap in the face to Met fans and is also dangerous for Mejia, who might well change his mechanics to compensate for his injury.
@Brian Krysz  Yes, whatever it takes to get Stanton.  I also like the idea of bringing up Reynolds immediately to see if his bat translates to the bigs.  At least we'll know in time for the off-season hot stove league.
@ KinersKorner  What you are not mentioning is that he is only 24, plays everyday and hits 30 2b's. Last year he had a down year, which is understandable for a young player on a bad team. He is signed for the next 5 years at under 9 million  a year(I know its crazy but that is cheap in mlb). The Mets could package Niese (signed
