The fuel efficiency results are in! Lancaster - Penrith - Edinburgh - Glasgow - Airdrie - Edinburgh - Glenrothes - Lancaster was a total of 535 miles, all done on one 34-litre tank of fuel. Without driving with fuel economy in mind, I averaged 73.5 mpg. Given that there was a fair amount of inner-city driving, that my car was fully laden and that the motorway sections are hilly (up and over Shap summit twice), luxury accommodation in florence I'm pleased with that.
