It's odd to me that in this reviltilization plan, nothing is mentioned about 7th and Broadway being

Councilman José Huizar is two years into his 10-year Bringing Back Broadway initiative. He has seen the upgrade of portions of the street, but now faces challenges ocean beach hotel san diego in creating parking and moving a streetcar forward. Photo by Gary Leonard.
The $100 million streetcar would connect L.A. Live and Bunker Hill, with Broadway as the main southbound spine. The principal northbound corridor would be on Hill or Olive streets. Rendering by LAStreetcar.org .
I thought Los Angeles had learned from their mistakes in the past??? Demolish a historic building for parking??? Last time i checked, artwalk didn't need new parking for the thousands of people who attend. Parking lots and garages just create dead zones. if you wanna make public parking put it underground and give us retail or restaurant or some business on above it on street level. I want a revitalized Broadway but if it means destroying buildings for more parking then i don't want it. Saying we need parking parking ocean beach hotel san diego parking parking parking for cars.. our vehicles!! its a priority!! we need to take care of our automobiles and cater to them is just going back to the 60's mindset that the automobile is more important than pedestrians and transit. Instead of using the money for a parking garage why not just create more subway or rail stops around ocean beach hotel san diego the city??? Screw parking spaces.
Parking is important--at least until we get good late-night transit. It doesn't make for an enjoyable evening on the town if you have to keep looking at your watch to be sure you get to the station or bus stop before service ends. Also, reasonably secure parking is important so that drivers can enjoy the show or concert without worrying about whether their car will be where they left it, and with all windows intact.
Parking garages per se do NOT lead to revitalization; ocean beach hotel san diego HOWEVER, a unified Parking District DID CONTRIBUTE to the revitalzation ocean beach hotel san diego of Old Town PASADENA and Downtown ocean beach hotel san diego SANTA MONICA.I am in FAVOR of transit...but both of those cities were successful by providing some form of cheap, safe parking for visitors.
It's odd to me that in this reviltilization plan, nothing is mentioned about 7th and Broadway being the original western terminus of the most famous highway in the world, Route 66. Why is there nothing about that in Huizar's plans / hopes?
I've lived in Los Angeles ocean beach hotel san diego all my life, and it's great to have so many areas come back to life. After looking at the three routes being considered, I think Option 1 is the best. It covers most of the areas and attractions conveniently and efficiently. As to parking garages being necessary, isn't that what destroyed this area in the first place? Also, who said anything about cables?
If parking garages could bring back neighborhoods, then LA would should be booming more than any other city in the country. Can we leave this fallacy at the door please? Its 2010. Transit, not parking.
As noted from the operating ocean beach hotel san diego theaters above, there is no need for a new parking garage. There's tons of parking everywhere in LA. It's impossible not to find a parking lot within a stone's thrown of a destination. We need more transit connections..not parking garages. There's aleady a huge garage at 7th and Broadway...why not convert that to a more welcoming garage. Don't destroy anymore buildings than what has already been taken....
How can these people say they have a plan and no money or a budget to pay for it? Wow, I didn't learn that concept in management class. Then the dictactor of the Bring Back Broaway fantasy Plan, takes the stand that busineeses have to fit their plan and not the other way around. ocean beach hotel san diego A plan that doesn't have any money or approval. Does the Mayor know that Jessica Wethington McLean is bullying the business owners. The Broadway Building Owners are not on this train. They are all saying Show me the Money. It ain't going to happen people.
