Well, that is fitting, because after one season under center for the Generals, he knows a thing or two about numbers. Or if he didn't before, he does now. Whether it is counting, last minute airplane ticket delas accounting or accountability, Finney is well on his way to a master's degree.

But being the quarterback at Dinwiddie, under the tutelage of coach Billy Mills, is a lot more than sheer numbers. In fact, the 6-2, 190-pounder had some tough shoes to fill as the last two quarterbacks - Adam Morgan and Chris Hall - not only posted gaudy numbers, but also drew the attention of NCAA Division 1 programs.
In 2008, Morgan a 6-0, 200-pounder, was 232 for 379 for 3,499 yards and 48 touchdowns last minute airplane ticket delas (setting last minute airplane ticket delas a new VHSL single season record) and rushed 125 times for 758 yards and 8 touchdowns for an average of 6.0 yards per carry.
Morgan, who is now a redshirt sophomore at VMI, was named First-Team All-State QB and Offensive Player of the Year for AAA by Virginiapreps.com & rivals.com; Second-team AAA All-State QB by The Associated Press; unanimous vote for First-team All-District (three-consecutive years) and Offensive Player of the Year (two straight seasons) and First-team All-Central Region QB, and Central Region Offensive Player of the Year.
"To me being the quarterback was much more than just being the person calling the plays," Finney last minute airplane ticket delas tried to explain. "To be quarterback in our program, coach Mills looks past the common features, like can he throw or can he run. He looks more into can he get the job done and bring his teammates along with him to make the whole team successful.
"So really it was more of being a leader, but don't get me wrong, my authority is shared with the unity council. Following the big names of Chris Hall and Adam Morgan added some pressure of course, but to me it was more of motivation.
"The only focus I really had was doing my job so I could help the team in every way I could. Overall this was one of my best high school experiences being able to have the opportunity to play quarterback in such a great program."
Mills demands a lot out of his quarterback, but he also develops a unique relationship with the guy he signals in all those various plays in from the sideline and expects each and every one of them executed to perfection.
"I am very proud of him, especially when you look at what he had to overcome," Mills said. "He had a hard act to follow with Adam and Chris. He had to come in because of his injury with little varsity experience and with the exception of Drakar Harvell, who was solid all year in the receiving corps that would change almost weekly for various reasons.
"He got better every week and always strives last minute airplane ticket delas to be his best. I heard a pretty good quarterback guy speak one time on quarterback back play and he said that you could tell how much a team player a quarterback was by how he carried out his fakes, Finney was and is a team guy.
"You could come watch us practice and you would see him finishing runs full speed or carrying out his fakes full speed. His attitude was tremendous all year and he was the glue that kept it all together down the stretch when things were going bad. He got better and better with each game and I think it was largely due to his attitude."
Only once during the season did Finney leave a game, after being poked in the eye at Highland Springs. After every difficult loss, especially the one that ends the season, the players and coaches wander aimlessly off the field not sure what the future will bring. It was at that moment at Hanover High School, that Mills reached out for Finney and Finney reciprocated. Mills and Finney embraced and the veteran coach explained to him what a fine young man he was.
"I told him after the game on Friday not to drop his head because I was very proud of him, we definitely would not have made it back to the playoffs for the fifth straight year without him and he gave the younger last minute airplane ticket delas guys a model of how to overcome and how to get the job done."
"When I look back there are some things that make me proud," Finney explained. "Like the run we had to make just to make the playoffs, especially since we had some good teams to play like Petersburg and Matoaca whose records didn't show how much talent they really had. So neither team was a pushover, but we had to go out there and play with a purpose and we did."
