Over the years we have photographed at just about every beach in San Diego. Each beach is different, some of them are more sandy, while others are rocky with ocean cliffs.  Each couple has their own unique style, and so we thought it would be helpful to share our personal top 10 favorite beaches for engagement photography sessions.

1. Windnsea Beach  This is by far the most romantic beach in San Diego.  It is unique in that it has beautiful large rocks scattered on the beach that are covered westin hotel boston with bright green moss.  The rocks make for a breathtaking backdrop for either early morning engagement westin hotel boston photos or romantic sunset photos. At low tide you can even walk really far own and stand on rocks so it looks like you are standing on the water!

Coronado Beach With a backdrop of the world famous Hotel Del Coronado, a small tide pool to the south and open seas to the north west it s a fantastic area with a wide variety of portrait possibilites.  Once you are finished with photos on the beach take a stroll through the quite beach town of coronado and grab dinner at one of the many wonderful restaurants
3. Del Mar Dog Beach  If you have a dog and really westin hotel boston want to make it a part of your photo session, consider going to the Del Mar Dog Beach, during certain parts of the year dogs are allowed on the beach, and this can make for some beautiful photos. The nearby ocean cliffs tower over the open beach.  It is located near an estuary as well.
4.  Crystal Pier If you love the vintage look of an old wooden pier this is the place for you!  Located in Pacific Beach, westin hotel boston it has the beautiful Crystal Pier that you can take photographs under as well as on top of.  Not to mention nearby there is also the Boardwalk, a fun beach style carnival is there year round with a roller coaster, carousel and many other rides that would work well for a playful and fun engagement session.
5.  Sunset Cliffs If you are more into a beach cliff tide pool type beach this is perfect for you.  Take the stairs down to the tide pool area, there are large pebbles next to the ocean cliff, often times there are far less people in this location than there are at the more open beach locations.
6.  Scripps westin hotel boston Pier Located near the University of San Diego California, this pier is used for research  but because of it s size and height it makes for wonderful photographs.  It s right next to the Scripps Institue of Oceanography westin hotel boston with also provides beautiful buildings and ocean views where you can take photographs as well.
7.  Torrey Pines State Park  This location is simply breathtaking, you can start up at the high beach cliff area, there are a number of trails you can take to get amazing views of the pacific ocean, as well as the beautiful flowers, Torrey pine trees and sometimes even catch dolphins westin hotel boston playing in the waves!  Once you have the photos you want up there, head down to the beach, there are nearby towering cliffs with plants and birds in them, and the sand is often times covered with small rocks and shells.
8. Oceanside Pier  If you love the look of the wooden pier, but find Crystal Pier too low and not high enough, the Oceanside pier is perfect for you.  They have very tall wooden beams, and the pier is much longer.  You can head up to the top of the pier for photos, and there are lots of fun ocean themed paintings on nearby building that you can have fun with as well!
9.  The Ferry Landing   If you are a city person, but also want a beach feel for your shoot, westin hotel boston the Coronado Ferry landing westin hotel boston is perfect for you.  It is located on the eastern side of Coronado, opposite the Hotel Del Beach area.  This provides a bayside beach with a spectral view of the San Diego down town skyline. You can also see the Navy ships that are docked in the bay.
10.  La Jolla Cove  Want a beach feel, but don t really care for the same much?  Head over to La Jolla Cove, it has breathtaking views, but majority of the areas for photo taking are one large cliffs that overlook the ocean, some of them run right into the water, while other tower over it. There is for sure a lot of variety in a small area that is all within walking distance.
