I went to London with Royal Brunei last year, got a good price and the flight was more or less the same as any other I have been on. The main difference they don't serve alcohol, which for me wasn't a concern.
A few years back we flew Emirates - 5 flights in total, of those 5 flights we were extremely happy except for one. The flight was full and the crew not so good. Just flew with Emirates last month, no complaints, except all flights these days will be full. Well maybe not, forgotten what the guy at check in told me but the majority of them are full these days. A lot of there flights are on A380's the others on the old 777's which are looking tired and well used.
Singapore, have flown with them - I can't complain about them, helpful and friendly. In my case though entreprise car rental perhaps I was a bit disappointed as I had heard how wonderful they where and imo they were just another airline.
With some of the main line full service airlines, entreprise car rental one way fares can be very very pricey, so maybe it might be better to book a flexible return back to the UK, this might be Gbp1000, but if you divide that, its only Gbp500 or so, and then see about extending the return part.
