A passenger says that the cruise ship was partially flooded during a heavy rain storm. The Coast Guard says a broken water pipe caused the problem. This reportedly caused a large part of the cruise ship to experience electrical problems.

I'm scheduled for a cruise on the serenade the 1st of April from New Orleans. There are 7 in our party. Will this be corrected by that time. Still on the ship. Last night they moved us to a cargo dock. From my understanding, we aren't going anywhere sooner than 5 pm. I drove 10 hours from st.louis , the parking garage attendant (Fulton garage) was the most helpful with the list of affected cabins we were on that list ( our cabin number ) we made other arrangements on another boat to leave Sunday ,we left out of New Orleans early yesterday royal caribean kept leaving messages for us to return to the dock , only to be told your cabin is not available , royal Caribbean customer service had No information none very frustrating ( I was mad ) I hope they make it right for people who were inconvienced !
I was on this ship when this happened. My room was in the dark which ment no lights or air/heating. Luckily I had a balcony which I could open to get fresh air. Bathrooms worked fine but dark. I was one of the cabins without power all night an Evening. I like how they try not to tell you what is really happening. In the end I agree stuff happens but it was handled very poorly. One lady I talked to got 4 stitches because No lite was provided at first an she got hurt in the dark. My mother and I drove from Jackson MS. We waited for the details as to how they were going to handle the passengers that were canceled but that didn't happen. We have cruised 5 times before and decided to drive to NO from North Alabama for a 32nd wedding anniversary cruise. RCCL left a voice mail saying boarding would be delayed but did not let us know our reservation was cancelled until we pulled in to the Julia Street parking lot, where a rep told us we were not going to get to board. We were lucky; there were roughly a thousand people in the staging area, all with their luggage and some with checked luggage, and about 40% were not going on this trip. And those who missed the trip may be the luckiest since the ship did not leave until Sunday lnoonish per the NO news. The reports of water coming thru the theater ceiling don't bode well. RCCL has offered to reimburse us in a couple of weeks for the fare but nothing inexpensive london hotel room for any other costs incurred. We got off the ship this morning before it left. The itnerary was changed to go to Nassau,Coco Kay, then Key West. The spa was closed, theater, pool (cold today), fitness center, and no working TVs. They claim we will be reimbursed and offered a 25% reduction on a future cruise (I'm guessing off of full price rates). I was on the ship when the power went out and our room went dark. We were without power, AC or lights for the rest of the day and throughout the night until we got off the ship. Luckily my husband brought a flashlight because not even the staff has them. Everyone was using their cell phones to get around. Very poor communication and not one ounce of an apology. Not happy with RCCL at all.

We then made our way in darkness to our room 3006 that was without any power to complete packing using our cell phone apps. We are all blessed that no one was injured stumbling in the dark or electrocuted in our showers etc. We did sleep a few hours without any ventilation until temporary lighting woke us up at 1:30 AM.
