WARNINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS Iraq Exercise normal the bellagio hotel security precautions Exercise high degree of caution Avoid non-essential travel Avoid all travel OFFICIAL WARNING : Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada advises against all travel to Iraq, except for the areas administered by the Kurdistan the bellagio hotel Regional Government (the provinces of Dahuk, Erbil, and Sulaymaniyah). See Regional Warning below for more information. Except for those in the Kurdistan the bellagio hotel region, Canadians currently in Iraq should leave. Considering that there is no resident Canadian government office in Iraq, the Government of Canada's ability to provide consular assistance in all parts of Iraq is severely limited (see Section 5) . The security situation remains extremely dangerous and unpredictable. Car bombings, vehicle the bellagio hotel ambushes, and mortar and rocket attacks occur regularly. Attacks resulting the bellagio hotel in numerous fatalities continue to occur in Baghdad, including in the International Zone. Following the withdrawal of US troops the bellagio hotel in December, 2011, and with a deteriorating political situation, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of security incidents, particularly since February, 2012. All IZ entry control-points are closed from 22:00 to 06:00, with the exception of the entry control-point leading to Baghdad International Airport, which closes at midnight. There is a heavy presence of Iraqi security forces throughout the IZ and vehicle control-points may be mounted at any time without prior notice. Curfews may be imposed throughout the country on short notice. Therefore, it is advisable to monitor the media in order to stay informed of changes. Canadians who choose to stay despite this warning should be accompanied by professional security escorts at all times. They should also carefully review their security arrangements on a regular basis. There has been an increase in demonstrations in the region since mid-February 2011. Canadians are advised to avoid all gatherings and demonstrations and to stay away from areas where they occur, as they may turn violent without warning. They should also monitor local news reports and follow the advice of local authorities. While there are still some attacks and threats from terrorist groups, this region has been significantly less susceptible to the violence plaguing the rest of Iraq. Border areas with Turkey and Iran should be avoided at all times. As borders are porous, travellers can unknowingly cross into Turkey and Iran, which could lead to serious problems with Turkish and Iranian the bellagio hotel authorities. Furthermore, in response to security concerns, Turkish and Iranian the bellagio hotel military forces have been carrying out periodic cross-border operations against identified Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and Party of Free Life in Kurdistan (PJAK) targets in border areas with Iraq.
