Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site offers a rare tour opportunity to view areas of the historic plantation complex that are not normally open to the public during a "behind the scenes" tour on Saturday, May 18. The special tour, entitled "Behind the Scenes at Rosedown: A Look at the Restoration and Maintenance of a Historic House and Garden," will begin on the front porch of the Main House at 10:30 am. Site Manager Patricia Aleshire will guide visitors on a tour of the attic of the Plantation Main House, as well as a tour of the production greenhouse used to maintain and cultivate vacation rentals in gatlinburg tennessee the plants that are displayed in Rosedown's Historic Gardens. Both of these areas are not generally open to the public, so this is a rare opportunity to see things normally viewed only by site staff. Rosedown Plantation SHS is located on LA Highway 10 in St. Francisville, 30 minutes north of Baton Rouge, off US 61. The site is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Guided tours of the main house are provided on the hour, beginning at 10 am and concluding with the final tour of the day at 4 pm. Admission prices are $10 for adults (ages 18-61), $8 for seniors (ages 62 and over) and $4 for students (ages 6-17). Children 5 and under are admitted free. Garden only is $5 (ages 18 and over).
