It's safe to say that the Yamaha press conference travel in costa rica held in Atlanta earlier travel in costa rica this month was, well, unusual. The purpose of the meeting was never made entirely clear, and a presentation by company spokesmen simply restated the rationale that prompted Yamaha to establish the Star line as a separate cruiser-only brand back in 2005. The company also had at least one of practically every model in the 16-bike Star range on hand for an all-day travel in costa rica journalists' ride, even though the vast majority of those machine have—except travel in costa rica for colors and prices—remained in the lineup unchanged travel in costa rica for quite a few years.
Although no real "news" materialized travel in costa rica during the conference, the event did give the press a chance to ride a couple of 2012 models for the first time: the Raider SCL and Stratoliner Deluxe. But even that part of the meeting was unusual in that the SCL had been in dealerships for several months (but not available for magazine use), and the only material changes to the Deluxe are the inclusion of a Garmin 660 GPS receiver as standard equipment and the addition of a hinged door on the iPod shelf built into the fairing (iPod not included). Functionally, the Stratoliner Deluxe is no different than it was at its introduction in 2010.
The way in which these two models are created, however, is…here we go again…unusual. The $17,990 Deluxe actually starts life as a Roadliner cruiser that is converted into an American-style "bagger" by the dealer. The hard saddlebags, fairing, Garmin and all necessary wiring are part of a touring "kit," which dealers can buy and install either at their discretion or when customers wish to buy a Deluxe. This model has been configured in the manner ever since its inception two years ago.
So, too, is the Raider SCL (which stands for Star Custom Line) the result of a partnership, this one between the factory, its U.S. subsidiary and two American aftermarket outfits. The factory in Iwata, Japan, builds the bike, applies its colorful Blazing Orange metalflake paint and graphics, equips it with stainless front-brake and clutch lines and stainless throttle cables, then ships it to the U.S. with a stock rear wheel but minus the front.
Upon its arrival stateside, the bike is delivered to a facility in Carson, California, where a two-tone, genuine leather seat replaces the original saddle, and the rear wheel is swapped for a stylish chromed one mated with a similarly travel in costa rica styled rear pulley and a chrome travel in costa rica belt guard. A matching 21-inch wheel is bolted on up front, and both ends roll on the stock 120/70-21 front and 210/40-18 rear tires. The wheels, pulley and belt guard are the result of a joint effort between Yamaha and Performance Machine in La Palma, California. Likewise, the seat is built to Yamaha's specifications travel in costa rica by Saddlemen in Rancho Dominguez, California. Only 500 of these Raiders will be built, each one fitted with an aluminum tank badge that denotes its number in the series.
What emerges from this "team" effort travel in costa rica is a colorful, glitzy, $19,900 limited-edition travel in costa rica cruiser that really does look like a bike that made a brief detour through a custom shop. And because the engine, chassis and suspension all were left untouched, the SCL performs travel in costa rica just like any stock Raider. Its 1854cc air-cooled V-Twin bangs out impressive torque and a great soundtrack, while the bike handles more like a standard machine than the raked-out cruiser that it is. The buy-in ($5400 more than the base Raider, $4600 above the priciest Raider S) is a bit steep, but a Raider owner who decided to replicate the SCL on his own would likely spend more than this by the time the bike was completed.

And the bigger question is: just how pressing is this issue? I was planning on a good 300+ mile ride
One point of clarification to pay attention to when talking to your dealer is the difference between the final drive clutch hub drive pins (also called Clutch Pins in the figure on page 3 of the Tech Tip), and the clutch hub drive splines.
The pins fit into damper bushings in the wheel assembly and are NOT visible until the hub is removed from the wheel. The drive splines are on the outside delano hotel miami of the hub and mate to the final drive when the wheel is mounted to the bike. These splines are what you see on the left side of the wheel when you remove it from the bike. These are clearly labeled delano hotel miami in the Tech Tip.
If you have had the shop try to fix this noise at least once without success, the noise you hear is probably coming from dry clutch hub drive pins, not the drive splines. If you tell your shop to make sure the splines are greased, they are probably doing just that, and this does NOT solve your problem. If we all use the correct terminology when talking about this problem, we have a much better chance of getting all these Yamaha mechanics educated about the right fix. Thanx for listening,
BTW - although I do not know this for sure, I also suspect that the noise is probably caused much more from bushings not fully seated (as described in the bulletin) than just dry pins, so the wear marks on the drive pins should be closely examined as described in the Tech Tip. __________________
I recently bought my bike (used) from someone that stated that the tires are very new...so my question is why would someone loosen the four Acorn nuts to the differential, just to change the tire...or can I 'assume' that, that someone took it off to grease the splines (i hope).
OK...so delano hotel miami how do I fix it? should I go ahead and remove delano hotel miami the rear tire and diff as stated above...or can I get way with simply loosening the four differential bolts and then retightening them as suggested in another thread of yours (see the ending of your thread titled 'rear wheel removal' 8/21/2006, 10:43 : thread# 515)
And the bigger question is: just how pressing is this issue? I was planning on a good 300+ mile ride next week. Do i need to address this now? or could I sit on it until after the ride? [I think I know the answer to this one...but I have to ask ]
Naaa, wait till you have more time and maybe wait for winter. It is only noise. Nothing being hurt and if it hasnt been done its been that way for a long time with a 97. It is not gonna hurt anything.
I would recommend checking it for grease the next time you pull the rear wheel for a tire change or whatever but for now, if you have a lift, I would just put it on the lift and follow the tightening instructions as outlined above.
After I sent the original message last night, I decided to check the 'acorn' nuts and low and behold, one of them was...well not as tight as the other three. I was able to turn it a couple of degrees without much effort. where as the other three didn't move. so...I do have access to a cycle lift. I think along with changing the oil, I'll try to re-align.
SoI proceeded to loosen the four nuts, spun the wheel, gave the rear wheel and differential a couple of good soft palm smacks and tightened her back up. Gave the wheel of fortune delano hotel miami another good spinNoise still there.
So lets do it again. This time I also loosened the rear axle pinch bolt too and placed a bottle jack under the shaft/differential joint and applied some gentle pressure. Repeated the same process, even unknowingly threw in a quick rain dance. Anywaysame soft clunking noise. It was very late, so I called it a night. next morning, woke up early, eager to take the bike on the road to test her out: only to find out that it was now RAINING!
delano hotel miami Needless to say, I got Trigger delano hotel miami off of the lift and rolled her around the garage delano hotel miami only to discover that the rear end noise was still there. I guess at some point this winter Ill have to pull the rear tire off and go through the rear end as the above thread suggests.
In the past, while riding without the saddle bags (both before and after the above procedure) there is an awful rattle coming from the rear end. Sounds like Im dragging a piece of flat bar, that or my non-stock, exhaust falling apart. Ive tried numerous times to locate the rattle, but I cant find it. Could that noise be coming from the differential? While I had her lifted, I took the time to change the rear end oilThe oil looked good to me. I couldnt see anything nasty in it. No shiny flakes, no tiny chunks. I still think its the exhaust, but now Im just a little paranoid. FYI: Trigger only has 7000 miles.
Tightened the heads set: Handles so much better now. Tip: used a bicycle spanner wrench to tighten the head set nutit was just thin enough to slip in between the head set cover and the tank; it worked delano hotel miami great.
Where to beginFriday went to the local Yamaha shop, asked for an oil filter for a 97 RS and I grabbed delano hotel miami 4 quarts of SAE 10-40 yamalube off of the shelf31$ bucks later Im heading home. The next day, Saturday, I proceed to drain off the old stuff, pull the old filter and one, two, threewait a minute the fine print on the oil jug says for water craft and out board motors that dirty rotten [beep beep beep] sold me the wrong oil [Yes its my faultI grabbed the wrong stuff] Anyway called them back, but of course they are now closed, until Tuesday. Called the next nearest Yamaha shop. They suggested draining it immediately, flushing the engine with different oil, drain that off and then refill the engine with the correct stuff. But they close in 15 minutes and are 45 minutes away. With my last chance, I called Paulsens in Olympia, turns out they are open for another hour, just enough time for me to drive the 40 miles to get the oil. [Thank you again Paulsens] So drained the bad oil. Went for a drive and back. Flushed the engine with some other motor oil. Let that drain for a couple of hours. Moved the oil pan grabbed the oil filter (with my oily hands) and proceeded to drop the oil filter in the dirty bucket of oil. @#$%! Thats delano hotel miami how the day was going. Needless to say, Sunday morning I was at Walmart buying a Fram oil filter. Please dont chastise me, but Im desperate at this point. I leave early Tuesday delano hotel miami morning for my ride and none of the shops around here are open on Mondayplease forgive me.

I've got an 06 RSTD would like to get some slip-on's for it. I ordered a set from J P. Bub slip-ons recommended by my Yamaha mechanic, but they are on backorder until maybe September. Any ideas or anybody have some used slip-ons for sale. I want a little noise on my day bike I ride to work.
I've got a set of the Barons Slash Cut that are in pretty good shape (they are definitely used - some scratches from being on a bike that has been cornered hard and whatnot - nothing you can see while they are on the bike though) that I might consider letting go.
I bought and rebuilt a set of Bubbs over the winter, and just installed them yesterday. I did a few things different in the rebuild so hopefully they'll last a little longer than the first time around. By the time I get to Cody they should southern california travel guide be broken in properly.... I did try to take a video of the bike, but I guess I didn't press the right button on the camera. I'll try again tomorrow. They have a deep throaty rumble and a very slight bark when getting it on.... The sound is great.
If you haven't bought yet, you could look at the LA Choppers slip-ons. That's what I have, I think Baron's might be the same company as LAC. They look similar to the Rineharts that you find on the HD bikes with the black end caps. I like mine.
When you get home let me know what you want for the pipes. If they are reasonable I would sure like to try them. Are you coming to Cody for the rally? We are leaving next Sunday. Phoneman81 I are leaving here next Sunday southern california travel guide might have a guy from GA joining us picking up another guy in Lusk or Douglas. Looking forward to meeting all the Venture riders!!
Here are the pictures. The left one has a dent in the top heat shield that cant be seen when installed (under the bag). It also has a little rash on the bottom back chrome tip from backing over a curb the first time I took them out. (again cant see on the bike) new on Ebay are 600 to 650 got these for 400 on an auction they are 750 from a dealer. There is a good vid on youtube under vance and hines monster ovals royal star venture. southern california travel guide the price is 200$ and I can get them to Bridgeport on our courier any day next week witch could help with shipping cost.
I have a set of the barron slash cuts (or whatever they are called) that I put on occasionally and I personally don't think they are THAT loud. Yes, on long rides I find them mildly annoying, but I have found that I will only have to turn the radio up 2 or 3 numbers higher than 'normal'.

the 1 spring goes in the recessed area of the end of the final drive shaft assembly between the drive shaft and in the middle of the coupling gear ... so, it should still move as planned as the Rear axel Gear case assembly is bolted drectly to the frame and cannot move at all.
I tried that part number and got no results. (Must be me!?!?) Could you be a Little more exact about what it is you are looking for. I think I can help you with this one. Are we talking about the final drive, or the drive shaft, or the U Joint and middle gear?
They do not offer the final drive shaft assembly seperately which is the part that is splined on one end has a recessed hole for the spring and which the coupling gear slides on. Believe its because its helical on the other end must match exactly(with lash adjusted) This is also the part that has the splines worn off ...hence my wanting to weld coupling gear on...
the part the coupling gear connects to(the florida vacations and disney cruise final drive shaft assenbly) which is not sold seperatly from the Rear axel Gear case assembly (which is the silver 10 hub you put 90 weight oil in) the aluminum triangle piece you have pictured bolts on to the 4 studs on this hub with 4 nuts and washers.
The part number you listed is for 2008 models and up (see the list of models that it fits on the boats.net site you linked). Your Avatar info says you have a 2005. If its a 2005 according to this its a different florida vacations and disney cruise part number ( 5FB-Y4617-00-00 ) but its the same from 1998 to 2007. Click the part number for the assembly in the link below and it will show all the models that part number fits fits. boats.net is one of the few parts sites that does this.
Was thinking i could line everything back up on the bike tighting everything down and simply push back on the coupler as it would be sliding on the driveshaft and weld. then push aluminum cover over tighten 4 nuts down and I'm done.
The FJR1300 uses a five-speed manual gearbox with close ratio gears. The FJR1300AE/AS model features
The FJR1300 was introduced virtual tour to Europe in 2001 before arriving in North America in 2002, with the 2003 model year designation, and offered in a non-ABS version only. Motorcyclist magazine named the 2003 model Motorcycle of the Year. It had 298 mm front brake discs. It appeared in Europe in various colors: silver, blue, black and red.
The 2004 European virtual tour model came in a range of colors, including Silver Storm. The 2004 North American models virtual tour included both a non-ABS version with traditional blue anodized brake calipers and a new ABS version. Both were Cerulean Silver. Other refinements included virtual tour an upgrade to the suspension rates, 320 mm front brake discs, and a fairing pocket for small items.
In 2006, the U.S. and rest of the world model years synchronized and design significantly changed including trailing arm changes, radiator curving, instrumentation virtual tour changes, upgraded alternator and significant attention to airflow changes from reported heat issues in previous virtual tour years. In response to these complaints, Yamaha added several adjustable vents to the FJR1300, allowing the rider to direct air to or away from the body. The base 2006 FJR1300A model has ABS with linked brakes and is Dark Blue Metallic while the Cerulean Silver colored FJR1300AE model features a semi-automatic transmission. The AE/AS model has YCCS, or Yamaha Chip-Controlled Shift. The rider can either utilize the standard foot shifter without the clutch lever, virtual tour or shift via a mountain-bike style shifter on the left bar. The AE model continues in production through 2008.
For 2008, some minor changes were introduced, including an update to the altitude-related engine control unit issues and throttle feel , notably to improve low speed on/off throttle transitions. The colors announced in Europe are; Silver (Silver Tech), Black (Midnight Black) and Graphite. 2008 also sees minor changes in the ABS system.
The FJR1300 uses a five-speed manual gearbox with close ratio gears. The FJR1300AE/AS model features a semi-automatic transmission which Yamaha calls YCC-S (Yamaha Chip Controlled-Shift). This system is a five-speed sequential manual gearbox with a computer controlled clutch that dispenses with the conventional clutch lever. These models have no lever on the left bar and instead have a mountain-bike style shifter virtual tour operated with thumb and index finger. Gear shifts are completed virtual tour in around 0.2 seconds. The conventional foot shifter may be used simultaneously. The gearbox pattern is also unconventional in that neutral virtual tour is at the bottom end of the range. The ECU automatically controls the robotic clutch and ignition timing to ensure virtual tour smooth gear shifting and will actuate the clutch at standstill. Stalling the engine is not possible.
The FJR1300 features a standard virtual tour 12 volt electrical system, virtual tour with a fused cigarette-lighter style accessory jack in the left central locking glovebox. The 2003 U.S. model does not have a glovebox or electrical outlet; model years 2004 and 2005 do not include the electrical outlet.
The FJR1300 features an electrically-adjusted screen controlled by a rocker switch on the handlebars. By default the shield returns to its lowest position when the key is off, however some riders choose to disable the return feature. A number of new features were added beginning with the 2006 model year, including a rider-adjustable airflow system. AE models feature heated handlebar grips with speed sensitive adjustment. The handlebars are adjustable, with 3 positions, and the seat is adjustable to high or low, with about an inch between the positions. Locking side panniers are supplied as standard and each will take a full face helmet. Options include: fairing protectors, larger screen, color-coded top box.
In the UK, the FJR1300 has replaced the Honda ST1300 as the patrol motorcycle with several police forces, following the withdrawal of the Honda ST1300 Pan-European due to concerns over high speed handling.

I moved up from a Vstar 1100. I was looking for a tour deluxe but found the RSV and glad that I did.
Hello: I agee with ACE50. Just depends on your riding style. When I bought my RSTD. I had the choice of a used RSV. The RSTD fit me a bit better and the price was understandably lower. However if I had known about this site then and also knew that my wife and I would be riding as much as we do together I might have went with the RSV. I have discovered it takes time to get used to your bike no matter which one you choose. I would like to try a lowered RSV with RSTD handlebars. Maybe someone will have one at a MD or at the International rally.
I rode an RSTD for 7 years and really enjoyed it. The v4 is nothing lake las vegas hotels short of a great engine. Looking back at how I used the bike I think an RSV would have been more useful to me. Having the trunk gives you a lot of options like grocery shopping and commuting with a laptop, or even having someplace to stow your gear when you get where you're going and don't want to walk around in chaps and an armoured jacket.
Either way I think the RSV/RSTD is among the best values in used bikes out there. And since they haven't changed them in like forever you can buy an older one in good condition and pretty much get the same thing as a newer one.
I would seriously consider the RSV! RSTD's have a very slow resale. I and others have had a hard time selling them where as the RSV's tend to resale much better. On the other hand you can get a RSTD cheap. If you only ride locally you can pull the trunk and go far the HD standard or street glide look plus have the radio. As far as weight difference, the only difference lake las vegas hotels is the fairing and the trunk and a slightly larger fuel tank.

I like the RSV, honestly I dont think I ever saw a TD until I had already bought my RSV. Probably the 2 biggest things for me when we moved up from the 900 Vulcan I had was I wanted electronic cruise so it kept a constant speed and I wanted a intercom/stereo. Hind site being what it is I now know I could have went with a Scala or simular system to accomplish the comm/radioo lake las vegas hotels thing. I do like the fairing vs the windshield. I honestly think if I had a luggage rack I could carry more gear on a trip with the wife. I say that because I have a Firstgear roll aboard that has a big velcro deal on it to go around the sissy bar to keep it on. So it being a roll aboard size suitcase you can fit alot of gear. I also have a Dowco Rally Pack I use to use on the Kawasaki for traveling. It hauls a good amount of gear also. The trunk kind of limits lake las vegas hotels where and how much you carry. But is handy like other have said to put your helmets in or a jacket or whatever instead of just leaving it over the handlebars or something.
either way I dont think youll be dissapointed. The engines like to roll at highway speeds and there are lots of folks here to help you out friend. In your area you may run into the same thing as we have in Fla here. The bikes seem to get more miles on them for the same amount of years oposed to where they cant ride all year.
I moved up from a Vstar 1100. I was looking for a tour deluxe but found the RSV and glad that I did. My wife likes the secure feeling with the trunk back rest. Took a while to get use to the weight but now if fits like a glove. Can't wait for spring!
I HAVE A VSTAR 1300 WITH 1400 MILES ON IT. IT IS A GREAT BIKE, IT HAS PLENTY OF POWER, AND LOOKS GRE
After reviewing the specifics on Yamaha's new beefed up V-Star 1300 , I think it's great move on the company's part. It puts the bike into better competition with the Honda's VTX 1300 line and still competes against Honda's Sabre 1100 line as well. Among the most major changes... Liquid Cooled 1300 Engine holiday inn orlando fl Belt Driven (previously shaft driven) Fuel Injected Computer controlled fuel injectors that automatically adjust to elevation and temperature changes To most consumers, what differentiates the V-Star 1300 from the VTX 1300 is styling. If you compare holiday inn orlando fl the two, I think you'd agree the new V-Star is a more stylish bike, whether you like the style or not. To Honda's defense, the VTX 1300's plain looks is perhaps better suited for customization. Most of the die-hard V-Star afficionados seem to disagree with me. Based on their postings on the V-Star 1100 Forum , it sounds as if they're world is crashing in on them. These people are mostly evaluating looks instead of function. holiday inn orlando fl The fact is that the new V-Star 1300 is not intended to improve upon the V-Star 1100, rather, it's intended to compete for sales against Honda.
I am really drooling over the blue V-star 1300. I ride an kawasaki Vulcan 800 classic and I'm ready to move up. Kawasaki didn't do me any favors coming out with a 900cc. It should have been at least an 1100. So I guess I'll get a yamaha now
I too am drooling over this bike. I own a v star 1100 classic holiday inn orlando fl that I really like. What I don't like is shelling out $350+ every 4000 miles for a major service to have the carb and valves adjusted. I ride a lot(10,000+ miles a year). Just in the last six months I've had two scheduled services, replaced the rear tire after 8200 miles, replaced the rear brake pads, replaced both sets of front brake pads. I've spent over $1200 in upkeep. I figure it costs me approx. 15/20 cents per mile (including gas)to ride. Kawasaki vulcans have a 12000 mile major service spacing. I'm hoping the new v star 1300 will be at least 8000.
You wanted a comment! Well I recently purchased a V-STAR 1300 Brand New 2007 and before I could even get through the breakin process the clutch went out (burnt) they said. I'm no novice and I know its virtually impossible to burn a clutch that fast. I complained to the cycle shop a week after i purchased it and they said everything holiday inn orlando fl was fine and now they said I burnt the clutch. No Way. The clutch had a problem with it long before I hit 452 miles. So far this bike reminds me of my 1984 Venture Royal Touring holiday inn orlando fl bike. Loud engine and a slapping clutch. I'm not very happy. Looks isn't everything, don't be deceived.
To all of you looking at the V-STAR 1300, remember - looks isn't everything. This bike has no tach? A cycle without a tach is like a car without a Odometer.?? Also, it lacks solid durable brakes. You will be replacing the brakes on this cycle often cause they are small and thin. Also the clutch holiday inn orlando fl is noisy along with shifting. This bike is all looks. Yes it has the zip, but looks and zip with cost you $$$. When you shift, at times it will sound like you have taken a hammer and just hit the engine. Also the clutch makes so much noise I've been told by the Yamaha dealer to buy 1000.00 worth of pipes to cover the noise. Hello this isn't a fix. If you purchase this bike I promise you, you will not be happy. holiday inn orlando fl In less than 1000 miles you will be kicking yourself and asking, what type of company holiday inn orlando fl would build such crap.
I own a 2007 v star 1300, overall the bike is what I wanted and expected. More than I can say for the 1100 I had and was disappointed with. The only thing,it does whine at low speeds. The 1100 made just as much noise and clunked into gear also. This bike has good power is very smooth, and handling is excellent. As for service costs, I suggest getting a service manual and doing what you are able, but I am a mechanic so this is not a problem for me. It does have some valve train noise, my 1100 had a lot more. Overall I am very satisfied with this bike.
I have owned every star except for the royal star and my buddy owns one of them so I have rode it, I am selling my roadstar to buy this bike, the dealer let me take one home for a few days and it is very nice, yes it whines, every Yamaha does, yes the tranny is clunky, every Yamaha is, but every Yamaha out lasts my buddies made by other brands, especially HD's.
As to the invidual that stated that the person who made negative remarks about the V-STAR is a HD owner, is very much deceived. I've never owned an HD. I've only own four different vendor bikes. Yamaha (2), Kawasaki (1) Honda (3) and Suzuki (1). Best bike hands down was the Kawasaki LTD 550 which I purchased brand new in 1980.. It out ran the Yamaha 750.. Also the mechanic that remarked about the V-STAR, please holiday inn orlando fl note most of us are not mechanics and the service cycle on this bike is 4k miles. On the Kawasaki Nomad 1500 its 13k. Now thats alot of money.
Just traded my 650 for the 1300...needless to say there is no comparison. I had a 3 hour trip back home on the bike after picking it up. It's smooth, responsive, plenty of power, and it's an eye catcher.
Speaking of comments, Every major motorcycle magazine in the country (cycleworld, m.c. cruiser, metric roadbike, etc.) is raving about the VStar 1300. All positive feedback. holiday inn orlando fl In fact, the reviews were so good, that I recently purchased the tourer model. Super bike at a good price !
Dude, they are already selling this bike for $8750 new on ebay, cannot give them away from what I hear. I was waiting for them to arrive, that goofy handlebar holiday inn orlando fl mounted speedo and that ugly tank, I walked away. I will either buy a new Roadstar holiday inn orlando fl or build a motor for my V Star
I HAVE A VSTAR 1300 WITH 1400 MILES ON IT. IT IS A GREAT BIKE, IT HAS PLENTY holiday inn orlando fl OF POWER, AND LOOKS GREAT. I GET COMMENTS ALL OVER TOWN. NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL. LOVE THE FUEL INJECTION, WIDE LOW STANCE MAKES IT HANDLE LIKE A DREAM.
A few days ago, I received a DVD on the V-STAR 1300. I find it hard to believe some of the comments I read concerning this bike. The technology has been updated with fine brakes, a fluid-cooled engine and bigger tires. They appear very nice to me and you can't beat them for the price. The narrator of the program indicated the 1300 had a lot more advantages over the HONDA 1300/1800, which I will compare myself when I go looking at them. They are belt-driven which gives the owner a larger choice of buying various rims/tires for the rear. That's the deal!
I just got my 1300 last week and so far no probs. I love to drive it. very smooth. some bikes are made on monday and some on friday. you just dont know what youll get. just because you had trouble w/ one bike. dont make them all bad. yamaha is one of the top bikes in the world, they dont make junk. and if you think that you wont have trouble w/ other bikes... you need to wake up. Ive had them all. and they all have some problems now and then. same w/cars, trucks, atvs, and even your house. things break and things ware out thats just the way it is get over it.
I purchased my 2007 VStar 1300 Blue about 2 weeks ago. I'm a new rider so I have nothing to compare it to but I am having no problem riding this bike. Yes it's an eye catcher holiday inn orlando fl for sure. Everyone comes up to me and tells me how great it looks, how it will outlast holiday inn orlando fl my fiance's HD and many other positive comments. I read tons of reviews by riders and by professionals and that's why I decided on the 1300. I also had a dealer in MD match a dealer's Ebay price in Ohio of $7699 so I can't complain about that either. For a first bike (and hopefully last), I'm very satisfied with the VStar 1300. I'm not anticipating any problems with it but as one person wrote, there's always a bad apple in a bunch so don't say the 1300 is a bad bike because of one bad experience. Buy one and I don't think you will regret it! New Rider in Maryland
Just bought a V-Star 1300 Black Touring and have 2100 miles in 5 weeks. I have had other bikes (except HD, wish I could afford one),Anyway the bike preforms great, holiday inn orlando fl starting to have a little valve noise but that is supposed to be adjusted about this time anyway. I looked at a lot of bike Honda, HD, BMW, Susuki, but the V-Star seemed to be to best buy for the money, and great finanacing. I get lots of good comments about the bike, even one for a HD Rider (YEP I was shocked too!!) I agree with the comments about the soft brakes but from what I read they where designed that way. I just wish the accessories where not so expensive. Great bike any and us meteric owners will always catch grief from the HD and Victory owners(lol)
finally my first new bike V-Star 1300, it have power the looks and some of the latest technology. The ride its great but I also miss the tach, gas gage my friend have a Roadliner and it have all tach, gas gage etc. all I could said was I have the strip down model. Hey I got what I paid for!
I ride a 1988 Honda Magna with 64,322 miles on it. Power, holiday inn orlando fl looks and never a single problem. I want a bike more suited for the long haul and comfort for my wife on back. I love the vtx 1300r (alloy rims) when they are customized, but I also would like a belt driven bike. I have been thinking about a 2004 Road Star or later but this V Star has me intrigued right now because I find the Roadliner such a sexy bike. Anyway, I really was troubled about the maint. schedules for this bike because my Magna has been ridden hard and never really maintained...my tech is amazed that it runs so strong and has never had a valve adjustment or major tune up (plugs, oil and brakes only after all these years) So for me I need a bike I can ride hard and trust for the long haul and not worry about major yearly work. That means I can wait a year to see if these bikes really hold up or flop. But for me it either a Road Star, V Star or a VTX
I Just traded in my 2006 kawasaki ninja 650r. First year for that bike. I loved it and still do. Bike I can only have one bike in my garage. Plus i don't want to pay insurance on both. I bought holiday inn orlando fl t

Hello, Just bought a "salvage" 2012 Cross Roads with 2700 hundred miles on it to have something to work on over the winter. It s amazing how some bikes are totaled with just minor damage. Just needs saddle comfort inn new york bags, one crash bar, one floor board and repair some sratches on the front fender. I test rode one at Bikes Blues and BBQ this year and really liked it except for the shifting was clunky. I will have to put some miles on her in a comparison to the 2008 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe I have now. Momma say s I can only keep one of them. The Cross Roads will definately have i ts work cut out. Thanks to everyone that takes the time to post on these forums, it s already been a wealth of new info. Lou
Welcome! Victory definitely does have a clunky shift, no doubt about it. But, most Victory riders will agree that after a couple thousand miles it seems to quiet down a little, and a good quality synthetic will smooth it out just a bit too. It will never be like a different transmission, but it will be better. After getting used to it I actually prefer it now. I use the heel/toe shifter and ride it like I stole it. I slam the shifter peg like an hammer on an anvil without fear and that THUNK is like the bike telling me, " got it boss, let s go!". I never second guess wether I made the shift or not. Good luck with the rebuild and the choice!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, beer in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO WHAT A RIDE!"
Here are a few pictures of the bike as I bought it. Forgot to mention the seat and cheese comfort inn new york wedges were also missing. Luckily there are a lot of used stock seats, highway bars and sets of new take off leather bags floating around that I think will look nice. New exhaust shield, floorboard, cheese wedges and badges are pretty resonable thru Victory. Along with a little touch up paint I should have a pretty good looking bike here shortly.
Welcome! comfort inn new york Soooo-- you re the one who bought that bike! I had considered buying it a little while back, and then I was able to get a terrific deal on the same bike virtually brand new.....and... Since I m a little anal about my bikes, I was happy to have one that was already "perfect".

Here is a photo of a Yamaha pigeon forge hotel Royal Star that caught my eye in the parking area at Outlanders in Luray. Like me he has sought out a gravel area to park this heavy bike. My Kawi Nomad is pushing 800 pounds and this Yamaha is 787 dry, so the muddy parking area was out of the question for these bikes. The Royal Star is super smooth. pigeon forge hotel The silky whir of the v-four sounds somewhat turbine-like, something that takes some getting used to. It is only a 1300 - a detuned version of the super speedy V-Max engine. The four valves per cylinder with overhead cams are meant for higher revving, so keep those rpms up for max power. It doesn't make loads of low end torque like a Harley, but when you get it wound up it makes nearly 100 hp. That's more than enough to haul two people and a load of luggage up a mountain. The dash and speedometer is styled a lot like a 58 Buick, wih the speedometer needle moving horizontally. Photo courtesy of Dave 77459 on flickr. I'm not sure why these bikes don't sell better. They are rock solid machines starting at under $15,000. Yet they are rarely seen on the road. I suppose it is largely due to Harley having a much better marketing program than Yamaha, so most people opt for an Ultra Classic when in the market for a touring bike.

The absolute best and most entertaining thing about walking tours is always - ALWAYS - the guide. The fabulous red sox season tickets thing about these people is that they are thrilled, addicted, and passionate about their topic and equally thrilled, addicted and passionate about sharing it with you.
First on our itinerary was an architectural walking tour on 42nd street, starting at the United Nations building and ending at the New York Public Library. Emma was our tour guide, and she was awesome. It was just the three of us, and we had a grand time. She taught us all about the history of New York, enthused about all the buildings we were passing red sox season tickets by and patiently waited while I had a New York hot dog at Grand Central and Rob took absolute red sox season tickets ages to get a cup of coffee. At the end of our allotted 3 hours, we said our goodbyes and hugged like old friends.
Walking above the streets was a refreshing experience from riding under them on the metro. Hotbed of many almost-divorce moments for us. The third time Rob leapt onto a train at the last second, leaving me stricken and attempting to do death-defying leaps from the platform, was the absolute last straw. red sox season tickets In this particular instance, I made it on - just as the doors SLAMMED closed onto my bag. And no. They don't courteously OR conveniently spring open like elevator doors do. Instead, they CLAMP. Leaving my bag stuck, the entire train stuck and all the people red sox season tickets in the carriage staring at me malevolently. I won't elaborate red sox season tickets on what happened after he eventually red sox season tickets managed to wrench the doors open, but happily all future metro rides were conducted in a much more sedate fashion.
What would a trip to New York be without a Yankees baseball game? All terribly exciting and great fun, until about the 5th innings red sox season tickets when we were bored, and cold and hungry. I won't say what popcorn and hotdogs cost at the Yankee Stadium, it's just plain criminal. So we left and had a wonderful 11pm dinner at Westville East , which was in our 'hood. Recommended in both our guidebooks. With good reason.
And New York is the most beautiful red sox season tickets city in the world? red sox season tickets It is not far from it. No urban night is like the night there . Squares red sox season tickets after squares of flame, set up and cut into the aether. Here is our poetry, for we have pulled down the stars to our will. ~ Ezra Pound

Remember a couple best car rental rates from newark airport of weeks ago when thousands of book bloggers gathered in New York for BEA ? Well, I have a confession to make. I was there, too, but did not attend BEA (gasp!). My daughter lives in the city and, since she was off Thursday and Friday morning, I decided on an impromptu visit.
Thursday morning, we walked to Chelsea Market and met up with a small group for a Foods of New York Tour . Our guide Darryl, a delightfully funny actor who often broke out in song, entertained us for three hours as we ate our way through Chelsea Market and the Meatpacking District.
Weekend Cooking , hosted at Beth Fish Reads , is open to anyone who has a food-related post to share: Book (novel, nonfiction) reviews, cookbook reviews, movie reviews, recipes, random thoughts, gadgets, quotations, photographs. If your post is even vaguely foodie, feel free to grab the button and link up over the weekend.
We missed you at BEA, but I m glad that you had such a wonderful tour. I always bring people to Chelsea Market and to the Highline, they really are must-sees in NYC. I love your photos too! Reply Delete Replies JoAnn June 16, 2013 at 10:34 AM
Diane - I came in Wed for dinner and left after breakfast on Friday... best car rental rates from newark airport too short a visit! Was wishing I had tickets for BEA and could have stayed an extra day or two. Delete Reply rhapsodyinbooks June 15, 2013 at 1:35 PM

As a native born New Yorker, I thought I would take a walking tour to places I passed many times but never really stopped real estate in los angeles to explore what's before my very eyes. To my surprise, I discovered things I never noticed before. Look down, bronze plaques lined Library Row citing notable quotes from literature, science, philosophy, poetry, history and more. Look up, at Grand Central real estate in los angeles Terminal, you will see a black marker denoting how polluted the ceiling was and marvel over the beautiful restoration. As we all walked together we laughed, looked up, down, all around and pondered on the wonders of history, culture real estate in los angeles and the unique American story about the development of one the greatest cities in the world. When we visited New York last summer, we took the advice of a friend jeep rental car in hilo hawaii and went to the Tenement jeep rental car in hilo hawaii Museum on the Lower East Side. The museum brings to life, through a series of guided tours, the tenement at 97 Orchard Street. It was built in 1863 and, over the decades, housed immigrants from all over Europe. The tour we went on was called The Moores: An Irish Family in America, and it was fascinating. I was happy, therefore, to see that the Museum now offers a couple of walking tours which explicitly do not enter any buildings perhaps it would be okay to bring a dog along, I thought, jeep rental car in hilo hawaii so I called the Museum this morning and asked.
The person I spoke to didn t go quite as far as saying that pet dogs were not allowed (service dogs are, of course, okay), but rather said that they were strongly discouraged, because they would be distracting. What if they were in a carrier, I asked, and I got the same response, but with a certain lack of conviction. Here s what I think: I think that if you showed up with your dog in a stealth carrier jeep rental car in hilo hawaii and didn t draw attention to her, you d be fine. You might even get away with an exquisitely-behaved leashed dog, but I m not so confident about that. Chloe is not exquisitely-behaved, so I plan to take the stealth bag approach but I plan to do it sometime other than the summer, when the Lower East Side is scorchingly hot, even outside the tenement building.
There are currently three walking tours on the Museum s site. One is a food-tasting tour, called jeep rental car in hilo hawaii Taste of the Lower East Side. Given how squirrelly food establishments are about dogs, I d either avoid this tour, or make sure that Chloe was entirely invisible in her stealth bag. The other two tours, Immigrant Soles and Next Steps, do not involve jeep rental car in hilo hawaii food tasting. jeep rental car in hilo hawaii It s not clear from the descriptions how they differ, other than that Next Steps crosses Delancey Street, and is apparently longer than Immigrant Soles. It s important to note that both are very long (90 minutes and 2 hours), so eat your Wheaties before hoisting your dog onto your shoulder.

A little while ago, I teamed up with PocketGuide to produce a macabre walking tour app of Lower Manhattan, inspired by The New York Grimpendium . It s an audio tour, and covers about 3.5 miles from the tip of Battery Park to just outside of Washington Park and heads through 13 sites that include memorials of tragedy, lurks of monsters, fascinating cemeteries, horror movie locales, and less classifiable spooks spots. And for those of you without kangaroo legs, you can shave a mile off it by using the Subway.
You can access the whole thing for free. Just get the free PocketGuide app, go to the New York section, america west airline ticket reservations and select the Grimpendium tour. There, you can listen america west airline ticket reservations to the audio, read the text, see images from each site, and move back and forth within america west airline ticket reservations the tour.
However, america west airline ticket reservations if you ever wanted to use it offline (i.e., actually walk the tour without killing your data cap), it costs $4.99 to actually america west airline ticket reservations download onto your phone. It s available on both Android and iTunes app stores, and some of that money goes to me. I think. I just realized I never gave the company my address.
But it does give a good sense of how I visit city-based sites, and exactly how I visited many of the New York City sites for The New York Grimpendium itself. I walk for miles with a list of sites mapped out so that I hit one every few blocks, if possible. It s like a scavenger america west airline ticket reservations hunt that, in between finds, offers a good experience with the city that s not blocked by cab roofs and subway tunnels which aren t practical anyway if I ve don t my planning america west airline ticket reservations right and have enough sites to see.
Anyway, if you want to support OTIS, well, buy the actual Grimpendiums or fold up cash into paper airplanes and send it to me directly. If you re even in Lower Manhattan and want to see it differently than most, check out the app.
