See a map showing the position of Hotel Borromeo Rome Italy and other hotels in the Esquiline area of Rome . We also have a page dedicated to the Esquiline area - maps, things to do, transport, colorado corporate travel shopping, nightlife etc.
The hotel is 30 kilometers from Fiumicino airport (Leonardo Da Vinci Airport) and the taxi takes 45 - 50 minutes (traffic allowing) for a standard fee of 40. From Ciampino airport the taxi ride is 40 - 45 minutes and costs 30.
I stayed at the Hotel Borromeo Rome Italy at the beginning colorado corporate travel of February 2009 for 3 nights. The staff were helpful and they allowed me an early check in at 11:00am - which was incredibly useful. As I was traveling on my own I wanted to be somewhere safe, and I felt safe at the Borromeo Hotel. colorado corporate travel The hotel room was secure and the location colorado corporate travel in Central Rome was quite safe.
The hotel room was obviously on the small side, which is standard Rome hotel room size! Nonetheless the room was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was big (again for Rome hotel standards) colorado corporate travel with toilet, bidet, huge sink and mirror; the shower in the bath might have been unsuitable if I was taller, although it was fine for me! Rooms were cleaned and towels were changed everyday. The only downside was the noise of the metro rumbling underneath while lying in bed, and I couldn't pick up the wifi signal in my room on the 1st floor.
Breakfast was hearty: pastries, colorado corporate travel cereals, yogurt, breads etc. although I must say that the coffee didn't taste especially like coffee, but when you know that you're going to be surrounded by Italian coffee all day, it doesn't colorado corporate travel matter.
While located very near to the Roman Colosseum and Termini Train Terminal, I would rate the Borromeo Hotel Rome Italy to be slightly below average. We had problems with both hotel rooms. We were not able to adjust the heating system and had to open the windows to keep the rooms bearable. The rooms were average in cleanliness and size, there were other minor problems that would require a minimum amount of maintenance to get the rooms up to par.
The problem with the Borromeo Hotel Rome Italy is that the management does not seem to keep up with maintenance in the facility. colorado corporate travel I found the rate of the hotel slightly high, it includes breakfast, but the breakfast offered was of low quality. The bottom line is that the rate charged for the hotel is more that what it is worth.
We hadn't planned on staying colorado corporate travel at the Borromeo colorado corporate travel Hotel Rome Italy when we arrived in Rome, in fact, we hadn't made a Rome hotel reservation at all. We made our way from the Fiumicino airport to Termini station to the internet colorado corporate travel cafe. We found the Borromeo Hotel on the internet and basically, it was only a short walk from Termini colorado corporate travel station.
Our room 110 was just the right size, it overlooked the street. If you want quiet, get out of the center of Rome or book a 5 star Rome hotel (although I've read some reviews of noisy 5 star hotels in Rome too). When I'm in a new city I want to hear see smell and touch everything. At the same time when the double windows were closed we had complete silence. I've stayed at expensive hotels in Rome London and Paris that were shoe boxes, as far as European 3 star hotels go, this one was perfect.
Some people complained about breakfast, personally, I didn't go to Rome for bacon and eggs. Sure breakfast wasn't a feast but it was a great start to the day. Croissants, breads, rolls, cereals, coffee or tea, perfectly fine. When in Rome, plus Italians don't eat big breakfasts. To all the naysayers if you expect the Ritz, pay for it! Thank You Borromeo Hotel Rome Italy, I'll stay again and recommend it to friends.
colorado corporate travel When I choose a Hotel, I always try to find something central. colorado corporate travel This Hotel was a nice surprise. It is a small, lovely hotel in Rome city center. Close to a Rome metro station (useful for me to reach my business appointments) and very close to the Roman Coliseum and the shopping areas.
The hotel room was clean and large, and the hotel common areas were also clean. There is a free wifi connection, colorado corporate travel which was a great bonus for me as I need to use my pc often. I stayed there for 3 nights colorado corporate travel and I ve already reserved colorado corporate travel my next stay for December colorado corporate travel 2009!
Stayed for a quick two nights in Rome at the Borromeo Hotel Rome Italy, we had pre booked through Expedia. We paid around 270 for two nights assuming the hotel would be nice and clean, unfortunately we were sadly disappointed. The full breakfast is anything but, free juice in plastic cups with some pastries and cereals. You could buy better from the supermarket for a few Euros per person.
On our first night we were given "the flat", if this is offered to you, do not go in. It's a large flat that opens onto the main street of Cavour colorado corporate travel that shows signs of being broken into before. The door is unsecured and marked and the room is very very noisy - either the main street, or the metro line directly underneath. Imagine mini earthquakes every ten minutes.
There's also a boiler sound in the room. The general condition of the room is well used, but standard for cleanliness. On our second night we moved to a superior room in the hotel proper. This was very clean with fresh linen, the only complaint would be the lingering smell of tobacco smoke drifting down the corridor, and the fact that the windowsill looked like it had been used as an ashtray years ago.
It is on a very busy street but the hotel rooms have shutters and double glazing which blocks out the street noise when shut. The buzz of the street, in my opinion, adds to the charm of the hotel. We loved peering out of our window colorado corporate travel and watching Roman life and culture - it is right in the middle of the 'life' of Rome!
It was 30 degrees when we were in Rome, the air conditioning worked perfectly and we were more than comfortable during both day and night. The rooms are not massive but hotels rooms in Italy and Europe never are, unless you want to pay loads! The hotel rooms in the Borromeo Hotel were certainly bigger than I expected.
We had a double room on the second floor (room 215) at the back of the hotel and my mom in law had a single room (204) on the second floor towards the front of the hotel. After 2 nights we requested if she could be moved to the back of the hotel because of the morning traffic noise.
The Hotel Borromeo is situated on the long Via Cavour road, it has some pubs and restaurants. The Hotel is within easy reach on the Termini bus terminal (a 10 minute walk through the main busy streets). The Hotel looks a little rough from the outside, because of the graffiti, but Rome is covered colorado corporate travel in it everywhere. The restaurant has about 10 breakfast tables colorado corporate travel and a central area with bread, cakes, yogurt, cereals, boiled eggs, butter, jams, milk, orange juice, tea and coffee. colorado corporate travel Breakfast is self-service.
The hotel rooms are very small but comfortable and clean. Only one pillow each, if you need more you will need to ask (we did and they delivered promptly). Sheets are changed daily, there is a bedside table each side with a small drawer and lamp, a dressing table with drawers and a built in wardrobe with some shelving and small hanging space. There is about a foot either side and at the base of the bed for additional room. The television has a remote control with one channel in English, CNN.
There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room which proved to be a real negative. Having colorado corporate travel said that, the receptionist will make you a hot drink if you want one, which will be charged to your room and you must collect it yourselves. The safety deposit box is functional and situated in the wardrobe. The bathroom has toilet, bidet and sink area and the tiniest bath I have ever seen! The shower is basically a showerhead in the bath, but its hot and powerful. Large bath towels were provided and changed every day, and small hand towels. The bedroom very warm with easy to use temperature controls and air conditioning.
In general the hotel could do with a bit of sprucing up. We really used the hotel just to shower, change and sleep. We would recommend the Borromeo Hotel Rome Italy to youngsters who need somewhere to shower, change and sleep. There are a lot of hotels in Rome, all very close to the main Rome attractions, with some very reasonable rates. You cant go wrong with the Quirinal area as everything is in close proximity to all the attractions. If you make a booking at the Borromeo and are a light sleeper I suggest you dont get a room facing the main road, it gets very noisy in the mornings with traffic (mainly motorbikes/mopeds)
After searching on the internet for ages for a well received hotel in a good location I stumbled across Hotel Borromeo Rome Italy. According to almost all of the reviews for Hotel Borromeo it was a winner, and my experience colorado corporate travel was no different! It is situated in a quiet area near the Termini station, Borromeo was within easy walking distance of Rome historic city center and the big Colosseum! Rooms were nicely decorated, clean, extremely well sound-proofed, and the staff spoke good English. My only complaint was our reservation at Borromeo was for a room with a bath, and ours only had a shower. All in all I was very pleased colorado corporate travel and would recommend the Borromeo colorado corporate travel Hotel Rome Italy to any traveler to Rome.
We stayed at the Hotel Borromeo Rome Italy for two nights in late November 2005. Our hotel room was small but comfortable and clean. Decor consisted of white/green walls, dark wooden furniture and parq
