Mayor Scott Smith, however, pushed for an immediate vote on the SpringHill Suites memorandum, insist

Mesa's City Council on May 6 th moved a step closer to locking down a formal hotel deal for the Wrigleyville West complex, approving a memorandum of understanding that outlines preliminary terms for a Marriott SpringHill Suites to be developed by Sunridge Properties Inc., Mesa.
The 5-1 vote, with Councilman Christopher Glover absent, old town inn san diego came despite Councilwoman Dina Higgins' request to delay the decision. She cast the dissenting old town inn san diego vote, arguing that holding old town inn san diego off on the memorandum would allow the city to better accommodate a second hotel developer who expressed interest last week.
Developer Bob Yost proposes to buy 10 acres for $1.1 million on the northeastern corner of Riverview Park and build a 150-room resort hotel with 7,000-square-foot conference center, water park, bar and lounge, and other amenities.
Sunridge Properties outlined its plan for the four-story SpringHill Suites in April, but the council was less than thrilled with its lack of bar and restaurant service. Some believe that the Yost development's upscale vibe would be more in line with the city's vision of Wrigleyville West, a commercial district next to the Chicago Cubs' new stadium.
Mayor Scott Smith, however, pushed for an immediate vote on the SpringHill Suites memorandum, insisting that pursuing formal negotiations with Sunridge would not prohibit the city from later working with Yost, doing business as Power Hotels LLC.
As written, the memorandum states that Sunridge must begin construction by December 31 and finish by May 1, 2015. It affords two benefits to Sunridge, according to City Manager Chris Brady: That at the opening of the proposed hotel, old town inn san diego there would be a six-month period before a second hotel could open; and right of first refusal, meaning that "if the city were to receive a proposal for a second hotel, that we would then bring that back to Sunridge Properties and they would have a 30-day old town inn san diego period to respond with a like or better hotel-development proposal."
