The Cairns Post reports on the disturbing story of Celebrity kicking 78 year old cruise passenger Adry Arnold and her husband off the cruise ship while it was docked at Yorkeys Knob, Queensland, Australia.
The Arnold's were enjoying their vacation cruise. Mr. Arnold went to visit nearby Cairns. While alone on the ship, Ms. Arnold apparently had difficulty locating her cabin. She became upset and began to cry.
The newspaper states that when Mr. Arnold returned to the cruise ship, he was not allowed back on the ship. Celebrity told them that their cruise was over because the doctor did not think they were the kind of people who should be on the cruise.if she was left alone. The article suggests that Ms.Arnold may have had dementia and disembarked for that reason.
The Celebrity passenger ticket drafted by the cruise line's defence single travel cruises lawyers states that the cruise line can disembark passengers for any reason. However, from a public relations point of view, I would think that the couple should have been provided with a full refund rather than left behind at a port with no transportation back home.
Tricky one this as we don't have all the facts but if the lady does indeed have dementia then it was probably ill advised to leave her on her own. Like all these reports there is probably more to the story than has been published...Carol
I agree it is tricky as we can only see one part of the story that is from a Profession single travel cruises that likes to sensationalise the facts. But it does Highlight issues that some people should think about before booking a cruise.
We've all heard how affected people single travel cruises can get confused single travel cruises and let themselves out of cabins to wander the corridors until found and as such might pose a danger to themselves and others. I don't know the rules on this but it is something we might all be affected by sometime so it would be useful single travel cruises to know.

How would the cruise line know if a Person had dementia? single travel cruises There are many people who travel without revealing single travel cruises their medical or mental health problems. Likewise we have seen people cruising with children with learning disabilities and I would not suggest for one moment that they should not. In defence of anyone who becomes upset when they cannot find their cabin, I have witnessed many many people, single travel cruises especially elderly people, who exit the lifts on a certain deck just because the doors open, then become disorientated. Even after being on board for a week, people become confused as to where their rooms are and can be found looking on the information boards to see which way they need to go. I am sure they do not all have dementia! I have been a carer of a person with dementia for several years and I would hate anyone to tell me that I could not enjoy a holiday in case they 'escaped' from the stateroom!
even if this lady had dementia this shouldn't stop her from cruising but her husband should not have left her alone on the ship. so is it okay for disabled people to cruise but not people with dementia or Alzheimer's? Celebrity single travel cruises should be ashamed of themselves. this is discrimination which is illegal.
