American Airlines Group inherited an order for 22 of the wide-body airplanes when American Airlines and US Airways merged on Dec. 9. Pre-merger US Airways had ordered the A350, while pre-merger American had ordered the Boeing 787.
The first A350 is set to enter commercial airline renaissance hotel atlanta service late in 2014, while American’s renaissance hotel atlanta first A350 is scheduled for 2017 delivery. But the people who came to American from US Airways have been preparing for years for the Airbus, and US Airways employees have been working with Airbus to get the airplane just right.
The particular airplane, flown to American’s D/FW eastside hangar Sunday night, was leaving later Monday to Florida, where it’ll undergo temperature testing in controlled circumstances to see how it handles temperatures from 40 degrees renaissance hotel atlanta below zero to about 130 degrees above zero.
