On our last day in Orlando, we decided to drive out to look for good eats, since we rented the car and paid for a whole tank of gas, and have used closed to none so far. As usual, we were searching Yelp for food recommendations, and Teriyaki House came up! Although the name implies Japanese cuisine, Teriyaki House actually servers authentic (vetted by me and several other Yelpers) Taiwanese cuisine. Yes!
Salt and Pepper Chicken $6.95: This this was amazing! Not only is it completely boneless, it is also super crunchy! doubletree grand hotel miami It came with fried basil that you eat with the chicken, and you get to season your chicken on your own, so that it is not overly salted or peppered. I loved this dish, and for the price, the serving is huge!! It is not an appetizer at all! Highly recommend!
Fried Tofu $8.95: I had initially ordered smelly tofu a Taiwanese classic, but was told that they were not allowed to make smelly tofu because of health regulations! Instead, the owner suggested their fried tofu with tangy garlic sauce. The tofu was topped with a sweet and sour garlic sauce that is pierced into the tofu (see picture above.) It was also served with sweet chili sauce and a handsome topping of pickled cabbage and carrots! Tofu was beautifully fried and still had crispy edges. The sweet and sour sauce complimented the tofu well.
Beef with Sacha $10.95: We ordered this because Jas likes beef, and were pleasantly surprised! The beef was tender, and the sacha (also known as Kangkong to Singaporeans) was not sandy at all. The sauce that it was fried in was garlicky, but not overpowering.
We enjoyed our lunch at Teriyaki House very much, and wished that we had something similar in Boston! This is really authentic Taiwanese food, and the owners were friendly too. Beware of the numerous English mistakes in their menu. According to Jas, these mistakes are an early sign of Asian awesomeness, and we should all embrace strange expressions such as babbled water (bottled water.)
