After our long trek we headed back into town and hit Trader Joe's to pick up some stuff for dinner.
Well I just have to say, I sure have the best little puppy in the whole world I think. She was just a dream on our vacation! I am impressed that my 5 month old puppy handled herself like a trained responsible adult dog. Her house training was perfect in our vacation london to paris travel rental, she never even attempted to chew anything, she slept quietly in her crate at night, she walked off leash to and from the car to the house.
The first part of the first day was more of a day for the 2 legged ones. We got an early start and made it to Mt.Bachelor's Snowblast Tubing Park and enjoyed a morning of tubing down some wickedly fast groomed sledding lanes. The best part was they clipped london to paris travel your tube to a tow rope to the top of the hill so no trudging up the hill! The snow conditions were very icy which made for VERY fast sledding, but they had a great slowing section across london to paris travel hay and had a safety berm with netting to stop you should you make it over.
After a morning of sledding we headed into Bend and had a wonderful lunch at the Deshutes Brewery and watched the first half of the football game before heading london to paris travel over to our vacation rental house. We checked into our house, a wonderful place I would HIGHLY recommend to any dog lovers traveling to Bend Oregon. Lava Belles Vacation Rentals we stayed in the Fay house, which was conveniently located just west of Downtown and just a couple blocks from the road up to Mt. Bachelor. These folks were so friendly and accommodating, including having snowshoes to borrow! This place couldn't be any more dog friendly, they had lists of local dog parks, directions london to paris travel to dog friendly hiking trails, including the book hiking with your dog in Oregon, they had a selection of pet supplies incase we forgot london to paris travel our dog's bowl, and the house was perfect for dogs with a nice big private fenced in yard.
Not only was this place dog friendly it was amazingly people friendly as well! The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful yet located london to paris travel right next to everything we needed. We enjoyed wonderful evenings soaking in the hot tub out under the stars next to the outdoor fireplace. The bed was super comfortable for my picky sensitive back. The kitchen was wonderful for cooking, well stocked with all the utensils and such we needed. We had wifi for downloading our pictures london to paris travel keeping in touch as well as a nice TV and comfortable living room. We even had a couple movie vouchers and enjoyed a night at McMenamins Theater taking in a film. I know we'll be coming back to this place!
Just a couple blocks from our house were my two favorite places in Bend. First is Ida's Cupcake Cafe which we managed to hit each day. They have the tastiest london to paris travel build your own cupcakes, you get to choose the cake, and then pick the frosting and they make them to order. My favorite was a chocolate cupcake with peppermint frosting, Michael's favorite was a lemon cupcake with raspberry frosting. Then just up the street was Bend Pet Express a wonderful pet store no dog lover should leave Bend without visiting! As luck would have it my favorite Spindrift leashes collars were on sale %50 off so I bought Emily her big girl collar and each of the dogs got a new leash.
The next day was all about Snowshoeing! We headed up into the mountains and shoed the Edison Butte Snowpark trail to the AC/DC Shelter. I have to say I was disappointed to learn how NOT dog friendly the winter london to paris travel trails are in the Bend area for those who like to enjoy the great outdoors with their dog. We basically had two trails london to paris travel to choose from which I found shocking since I have always known Bend to be so dog friendly. Luckily the one snowshoe london to paris travel trail we did choose did not disappoint! It ended up being about a 7 mile snowshoe, we made it a little longer than we needed to by adding in an extra loop. It was a wonderful warm sunny day and the trail was very fun. The trail ended up at the shelter that sat in a clearing with wonderful views of Mt.Bachelor. The shelter london to paris travel was stocked with firewood and in great condition! The whole day out we didn't see anyone, the benefit of having our weekends fall on everyone else's weekdays.
Emily did GREAT! She was quite the trooper who kept up with no trouble at all. She was pretty tuckered out by the end and was more than happy to be back in her crate in the car at the end of the day. But I was so very proud of her on her first BIG adventure. She stayed with us, she came when she was called, she leashed up when needed and she was just a good girl!
After our long trek we headed london to paris travel back into town and hit Trader Joe's to pick up some stuff for dinner. The best part about having this great house was we didn't have to eat out hardly at all. With all the free outdoor entertainment and eating in our trip was quite reasonable! We had a yummy chicken curry dinner then soaked our aching bones in the hot tub. We enjoyed a quiet evening and all of us were quite tuckered out and ready for an early bedtime.
Our third day was our leisurely day. We had a nice mellow morning, went into town and got a cup of tea at Townshend's Teas and then walked along the riverside thru Drake Park. We took our version of a quick short walk, a 5 mile hike to Tumalo Falls. It was a nice walk on a beautiful day! It was pretty busy as it is so close to town and much of the walk the dog's were on leashes. Which was actually great because it was wonderful practice for Emily's leash training. After a mile or so and already being tuckered out from the snowshoe the day before she was more than happy to just walk nicely along. I was very happy that Butters training has gotten him to the point I could even bring him on a walk like this. He was great, even when three loose labs charged us barking. He did get pretty amp'd up and excited but no barking or lunging.
After our walk we spent the afternoon checking out the downtown area. We walked Emily Ricky all around town, taking advantage of the opportunity to socialize Emily. She was adorable! She flirted with everyone we passed by and few could ignore her wiggly noodle body, she made many many friends. Poor Ricky once again had to field questions about whether he was Emily's Mother. He is just the best dog in these situations and I was thrilled that Emily got to follow his lead. She was so well behaved we even took her leash off in the busy downtown areas for photos.
I love your dogs! I have dogs too, and like you, I make it a point to spend quality time with them as well. I take them on vacation with us like they re part of our family. It really london to paris travel feels good to have dogs around, right? Reply Delete Add comment Load more...
