If you're arriving late on the day before your flight out, I think staying at the airport makes sens

We are flying out of FCO but will need to fly in from previous airport the night before, needing to stay 1 night in Rome. Going into Rome at the end of the trip for 1 night doesn't seem to be worth the trouble, so we are considering a 1 night stay near FCO airport. What hotels? and is there anything to do there?!
I stayed here but only due to an emergency and having to get home on an early morning flight. It was convenient and they do have shuttles into the city if that will help for touring. I took the train from Rome to the airport but it doesn't run super early. Anyhow there is a ten min walkway to the hotel from the airport. The hotel didn't have water to buy except in the bar and the menu was not anything holiday inn express suites fisherman s wharf to talk about so walked back to the airport and had a most delightful dinner, bought small bottles of vino and water and walked back to the hotel. My floor smelled like sewer but not so bad in my room. Shuttle took us to right terminal in the am so didn't have to walk back.
Check the reviews for Villa Rosita, a lovely place to stay with free, quick airport transfer. Nice quiet neighborhood with a market nearby where you can buy wine and cheese, then enjoy the Villa's lovely gardens from your chairs on the verandah. Also a few restaurants within a few blocks walk. No need to deal with all the traffic and hubbub of getting into Rome if you don't want to.
Villa Rosita does sound really nice. I was going to suggest taking the local train from FCO to the Trastevere station (a few stops before Termini; a bunch cheaper than the express to Termini too). If you go to www.booking.com holiday inn express suites fisherman s wharf and zoom in there are reasonable and highly rated places within a block or two of the station (a small, quiet train station). From there you can take the tram up a couple stops toward the more lively parts of Trastevere, or head into the center. If you are up for any adventure at all that would be a fairly easy and fun evening and avoiding the hustle and bustle of Termini.
There are two different trains that leave Fiumicino airport. The FL1 (sometimes called the FR1 or FM1, because the second letter keeps changing) holiday inn express suites fisherman s wharf does not go to Termini at all, but does go to some peripheral stations, including Trastevere. The Leonardo Express goes only to Termini station.
If you're arriving late on the day before your flight out, I think staying at the airport makes sense. Many people, including my daughter, have had bad luck with shuttles from so-called airport hotels, because the shuttle drivers often have other duties and may not be available when you need them. My daughter, when she stayed at an airport hotel, ended up having to get a rather expensive taxi in each direction. Other airport hotels have no restaurants nearby, which forces you to eat at their overpriced and mediocre holiday inn express suites fisherman s wharf hotel restaurant. For these reasons, I'd be inclined to stay at the Airport Hilton, which is the only hotel right at the airport, an easy walk from the terminals. holiday inn express suites fisherman s wharf If you stay at a different hotel, make sure you have reliable information about the shuttles.
I recently stayed at a different airport hotel, which did have a reliable dedicated shuttle and a decent hotel next door, but I was put up there by Alitalia because of a missed flight, and I don't remember the name. I could find out if you still haven't found a hotel.
