Mostly highway riding this day in order to get quite a ways south. Thinking gap adventure tours I-196 to US-31 south through Indianapolis, then I-74 southeast to Cincinnati, then I-75 south to London.  That will be mostly interstate gap adventure tours riding, but some secondary highway on US-31 from South Bend down to Indianapolis.
It should gap adventure tours only take a few hours to get to Johnson City, riding on US-421 the majority of the way, which should be nice, two-lane, hilly riding. Should get into Johnson City early enough gap adventure tours to do one of the shorter Southern Dozen rides in the afternoon and early evening.
We ll ride one of the Southern Dozen rides each day. Thinking about ride #1 The Snake Ride, and ride #9 - Mountain Ribbons. They are about 140 150 miles each, so there should be plenty of time to stop along the way.  They cover the areas East and South of Johnson City, and look like some great mountain roads.  If time allows, and we re not tired, there are a few other short rides that we could do as well. Check out Southern Dozen s website: SouthernDozen.com .
Thinking gap adventure tours south from Johnson City on I-23 to Asheville, NC, and then US-19 west.  This will head through Maggie Valley, where we can stop at the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum. It s been Centerline s dream since he was a young man to visit this museum. He s going to miss out, but can live his dream through everyone else it s decided upon. Continue west on US-19 and then head north on US-129 to Robbinsville.
As an alternate route, we could also get on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Asheville and ride west to Cherokee, where it ends. From there we ll get on US-19 west to US-129 north to Robbinsville. This will add some miles to the day s ride, and it s 45 mph on the Parkway, but the scenery will be great.
Some of us have stayed at the Two Wheel Inn before. It s a small Mom Pop motel geared specifically to bikers.  Each room has a small garage attached to it.  You can fit one or two bikes in them depending on the size of your bike. They have a washing area so you can clean your bike at the end of the day, and everyone that stays there is a rider, so you can swap rides and routes gap adventure tours with other riders.  It s a great little place, and I m sure that those of you that haven t been there will enjoy it.
Thinking one day on US-129 which will take you through the Dragon s Tail into TN, then west on US-411 to Vonore, and south on 360 to Tellico Plains.  At Tellico gap adventure tours Plains, get on the Cherohola Skyway and ride that back east to Robbinsville.  This loop is approx. 120 miles, but can be stretched out for most of the day.  We ve ridden this before, and it s a great ride with some outstanding scenery.
The other day could be the Moonshiner 28. Probably a full days ride, but it looks like it will be great. Goes through parts of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. We ve ridden some of the northern parts of 28, and it s was great.  This ride spans the entire length of it.  Head north from Robbnsville on US-129 to Deals Gap, then head south on 28.  This takes you all the way down to Walhalla, SC.  From there, head west to clip the northeast corner of Georgia, before heading gap adventure tours north to Robbinsville.
Several choices to get from Robbinsville, NC to Knoxsville, TN before gap adventure tours heading north on I-75. Ride the Dragon s Tail again and go around Smoky Mountain National Park on the west side and up to Knoxville, OR ride through Smoky Mountain National Park to Gatlinburg and then on to Knoxville, OR go around the park to the east on I-40 and then up to Knoxville. At Knoxville, get on I-75 and stay on that all the way up to Dayton.
Ken has booked all of the rooms on his credit card. All are paid in advance, except the Two Wheel Inn: they charged a deposit equal to the first night s stay, so the other two nights will need to be paid for by each person during the stay.
Thanks so much to Centerline for organizing all of this. He is a great Road Captain and proves why we made the right choice in appointing him this office. Also thanks gap adventure tours to Scribe (temporary road name) for getting this up on the sight. gap adventure tours It is beacause of dedicated members such as these guys that I am so proud to be a member of this Club SloRiders RC Grand Rapids.
